I'm a newbie to the whole hypermiling thing, but I would like to give it a shot eventually. I've been reading many of the articles and posts about it here for quite some time. I've finally mustered up the courage to post and say hi. :Banane09:

I own a 2006 honda civic LX, I'm kicking myself now wishing I would have bought the hybrid version though. But this car was purchased because of a rude person who didn't like stop signs and totalled my beloved 01' civic.

So far I'm going to be raising the pressure in my tires a little and I've already been teaching myself to coast as often as possible. If you have any more advice, please let me know.

Hi C0da:

___Welcome indeed!

___I do not remember seeing a Las Vegas member so you may be the first? The good thing is an 8th gen Civic LX w/ a stick is a vehicle that can really do some serious damage to the EPA estimates when pushed! Look at some of Psyshack’s numbers out of OK as of late! Start out slow with a few pounds of pressure added every few days until you are up to at least MAX Sidewall and on the next oil change, some lighter weight synthetic will certainly help in terms of both FE and engine wear with the heat of Vegas during the summer months. After a tank or two, maybe add an SG-II. Another few weeks, it is time to learn and master some of the more advanced techniques if you dare ;) Just make sure you master them out on a desolate stretch of roadway or parking lot so as to keep your self safe until everything becomes second nature and to keep the natives from going crazy while you begin and then graduate from Hypermiling 101 here at CleanMPG U. :)

___Good Luck and I hope you find CleanMPG’s many members as helpful and energetic as I have …

___Wayne

Unfortunately it's an automatic civic. I hope I can still do some damage to the EPA even when summer hits. Las Vegas becomes a huge oven and there is no possible way to not use an A/C when it gets to 107 degrees. Opening the windows is the same as putting a blow dryer on high heat and aiming it at yourself.

Thanks for the warm welcome xcel.
