I saw some posts from msantos saying he was testing a CVT and 6MT CR-Z in late 2010. Were the results from this ever posted?

View Full Version : MSantos dual CR-Z Test results? RichXKU 06-07-2011, 11:11 PM I saw some posts from msantos saying he was testing a CVT and 6MT CR-Z in late 2010. Were the results from this ever posted? Mr. Incandenza 06-09-2011, 09:57 AM Don't think so. From all I've read on CRZForums.com I'm really glad I saved the money (and sense of involvement with the vehicle) and got the 6-spd. Autostop is apparently a lot less seamless on the CVT. A novice driver driving the vehicle like they would any other car will get better, possibly much better, gas mileage with the CVT. As soon as you start to use any hypermiling techniques though, the difference is far less drastic, and in certain situations switches in favor of the 6-spd. The main problem with the 6-spd is gearing; the CVT can hold lower rpm at highway speeds. RichXKU 06-09-2011, 03:45 PM That's why I'm interested in some CVT testing. As a Fit 5MT driver the extremely short and close gearing is starting to wear on me, having to run rapidly through all the gears by 30 MPH between every traffic light for the best FE. Wayne's testing of the 6MT CR-Z shows the same: out of gears by 30 MPH and RPM too high on the highway. Some steady state RPM data for 55 and 65 on the CVT CR-Z would be great. Calculations show it to be lower, but by how much I'm not sure. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2013, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
