View Full Version : An example of irony

BailOut

On my way to work on a morning 2 weeks ago I was on a climbing section of a road that's a 6% grade which goes for about 4 miles. In front of me was a Toyota Prius, I was in my Toyota Yaris, and behind me was a VW Jetta TDI.

As we tooled along doing the 55 MPH speed limit in the right-hand lane and each of us using low RPM (as evidenced by the sound of both the other cars and the fact I was in 4th gear at just 2,000 RPM) I couldn't help but smile as I thought about how clean and efficient our 3 cars are (comparatively speaking, of course), and how the mountain would "get a little break" from some emissions this morning.

No sooner did I have that warm and fuzzy thought than this big 8+ ton truck carrying one of those huge, 5cm thick, steel refuse collection units came blowing past us in the left hand lane doing at least 70 MPH with his engine screaming and belching out a non-stop cloud of acrid black smoke.

*sigh*

Bailout I know exactly the feeling.
I was recently stopped at a light with my engine off enjoying a beautiful spring day while a big F-150 truck pulled up and stopped on my Left side.

His 4 inch exhaust outlet was eye level and blowing smoke through my open window.
A bit disturbing to say the least !

Regarding the big trucks (18 wheel, dumptruck etc) I'd love to see them be ticketed in those instances.

Hi,

Here is one for the record books. I was sitting (as-you-always-do) at the drive up lanes at Bank of America. Why am I mentiong this you wonder ?

Because in the left lane next to me (not-a-lot-room-between-lanes) is a Ford Diesel with the Clatter-Clatter and "Yes" Smoke coming out and while this is going on, they are asking me if they can do anything else for me.

As Polite and trying not to YELL back at the spkr. I said I think the answer to your question if I heard it correct at this time is No, Thank-You.

That was a fun experience. Not !!!! :(

2-3 years ago, I was going to see Christmas lights in a city nearby. There were a couple of six wheel pickups that were speeding and messing with me. Diesel operators know how to do it, but they were trying to blind me with those big black clouds. Oh....to have had a trooper to have caught them red-handed....
