Hi!

I'm currently developing a HSI bar for the second generation Prius.

I'm using an Arduino microcontroller, CAN-bus shield, ODB cable and a 2x16 serial LCD display.

Here's a video of the first stage of development, basicaly like a scangauge, where it reads gas-pedal, brake-pedal, rpm, battery current and cooling liquid temperature.

(sorry the video is in portuguese)

Right now I'm developing the graphic display of the HSI bar using the limited 8 custom caracters with 5x8 pixels each.

I'll post more details about the algorithms later.
Stay tuned!

Best Regards
Alexandre

Here's the second video:

The bar currently shows:

Braking pedal - from 0 to 20% fills the regeneration bar on the left
Gas-Pedal: dinamically fills the main bar, the first half is electric-only mode (if the car is warmed up), second half is from ICE ignition till about 2200RPM, power section if from about 2300 rpm till 65% gas-pedal position.

Battery current, in Amps
Cooling liquid temperature, in degC
RPM

Comments are welcome!

Cool stuff. Look forward to the English version so I can actually understand what you're doing :-)

Yes, I have to agree with Sean, Very good job. I would like one of those. Thanks Alex. Do you plan on marketing your device? H

Thanks!

Yes, as soon as I fix some problems and get some boxes to make it a little more professional looking I can market it.

Still to fix:

-Standby current about 50mA, should be much less to avoid depleting the 12V battery if you don't use the car for a week (OBD connector as only permanent 12V)

-LCD will resist to high temperatures in the summer?

Alex
