I am bothered with the delay the scan gauge has when doing engine off glides....Takes to long for the gauge to read after turning key back to on... I just started to coast with engine on cause it was driving me nuts. Any advice or is this just the situation...Build a bridge and get over it:)

Hi, Gas-x! I had the same issue with my Elantra until I discovered I could turn the key to just barely where the engine would cut out but the lights would stay on. Once I found this spot not only was I able to FAS at night much more reasonably (you draw a lot of attention when blinking your headlights regularly ), but I also was able to shorten up the ECU reset and in many cases eliminate it completely.

The alternative is to set up a FAS button which just interrupts the injector signals and starves the engine until it stops -- this is essentially what my Insight FAS button does, and it is also how Larry set up his Saturn in this thread (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9145).

I had intended to to this to my Elantra but after I found that spot that keeps the lights on when I FAS I haven't bothered.

Hey Sean! I don't have enough confidence to hit the wiring... I will have to just try to find that sweet spot in the igniton. Have tried to find it with no luck... The delay in ecu is almost to much so I just leave ice on.

The difference on the highway isn't severe when leaving the car running in neutral but there is a huge hit at lower speeds if you do that.

Try looking for that spot at night when the lights are on. If I turn the ignition to ACC position the lights go out in my Elantra -- the cut out for the engine in that car is just before the lights get turned off. It is around 1/3 of the turn needed to get from the ON position to the ACC position.

Found a spot in ignition where the delay doesn't seem as long. Still work in progress.:)

Hey hey!! Good news! You may also find that there is a particular moment at which you can cut the engine and have the delay become non-existent. When I drive the Elantra consistently I can get it to that point roughly 2 out of every 3 FAS events. If I'm really in tune with the car I can sometimes get strings of 9 or more in a row like that.

Keep trying!
