I like the way it looks. Owner reviews describe some issues like lots of auto tranny issues and head room issues on entry. Sure would like to see what kid of FE the hatch back 5 (MT) speed model could do. Anyone?

Anyone? xcel 02-01-2011, 12:30 PM Hi Paul: We are currently in the early planning stages of taking one of the last European 2010 Fiesta's from the LA Press Fleet across the country back to Dearborn so that it can be shipped back to Europe. And the driver's I have scheduled to take the Fiesta’s wheel are none other than our own Andrew McGuckin (Palemelanesian) and Mike Sefton (Seftonm). And of course it is equipped with a stick which makes those two prime candidates to provide some excellent fuel economy busting numbers along with a very good overall review. Since I am charged with setting up this drive, I am sure they will allow me to take the wheel for a few miles too ;) Actually, Andrew and Mike will be charged with not only driving the vehicle from LA to Savannah but also muling a number of guest journalists from the primary route to large airport locations along the way and back again. After it arrives in Savannah, I will be towing it with of all things, a 2011 Ford F-150 SuperCrew w/ the 3.5L EcoBoost engine. Stay tuned as this “Challenge Adventure Drive” is going to be one of our biggest yet and we hope to have quite a few CleanMPG members come out and join us for a little camping with 7 of us along the primary route as we make our nightly stops from “Sea to Shining Sea”… While I am making the public announcement a bit early here, there are 7 guys working their tails off to make this the best CleanMPG Challenge drive yet. And wait until you hear the challenge goal metrics we are going to attempt to achieve from these two vehicle as it is out of this world  Wayne maxalan 02-01-2011, 12:43 PM I like the way it looks. My Aunt and Uncle have a 2009 1.25 Litre Zetec model. They say they get around 37 mpgUK out of it, which is what the official figures say. pcs0snq 02-01-2011, 05:37 PM OK Cool can't wait to read of the cars FE and other parts. I'm just seeing if any budget car is more capable and as livable as my Fit. It's a fine car, but I'd like better if I can. Diesel Lover 02-01-2011, 07:40 PM If you're getting the European one, get the diesel. Hypermiling it can hit over 80mpgUK easily. xcel 02-01-2011, 08:04 PM Hi Diesel Lover: If it were one of the ECOnetic 1.6L CDTi’s, we’d be talking well into the 100 mpg area for a trip like this with Andrew and Mike behind the wheel. There are no ECOnetic’s in country and if there were, we’d be driving it! Unfortunately, what I was I was told is there is one Fiesta Movement Fiesta w/ the 1.6L TiVCT and 5-speed stick left in LA and that is what we will be driving to Savannah and then I will be towing it back up to Dearborn. I am sure with Andrew and Mike behind the wheel, they will do a bit better than 80 mpgUK/66 mpgUS while behind the wheel of the Fiesta gasser ;) Wayne Diesel Lover 02-01-2011, 10:53 PM Hi Diesel Lover: If it were one of the ECOnetic 1.6L CDTi’s, we’d be talking well into the 100 mpg area for a trip like this with Andrew and Mike behind the wheel. I was pleasantly surprised when you took the Sonata and Sonata Hybrid out, definitely on my future purchase list when me and the other half decide to start a family. If you recall a good while back when the econetic was launched, I had a chance to drive my friend's when he first got it, managed somewhere around 100mpgUK with it. I instructed in one that I leased for a few months before giving up on instructing, my students were getting 60-70mpgUK out of it. I did a run from Glasgow to Manchester in it and managed 87mpgUK and I wasn't even hypermiling that (was rushing to catch a flight). I'll be looking forward to the challenge with great anticipation! Those guys would sure do a great job with it. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
