With Chrysler announcing natural gas vehicles for the US (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36683) it got me thinking about the availability of real retail locations for these vehicles to use. Is it in fact practical to drive one for our CleanMPG members?
What we'll do with this thread:
Look at the sites listed below and see how close a station is to you
Answer the poll on your feelings for CNG Cars
Suggest additional CNG locator sites to add to the list
If you are a CNG driver, talk it up.. What works? What doesn't?
CNG Locator Sites Comments
http://www.cngprices.com/ Site is accurate, info a little stale
http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/fuels/natural_gas_locations.html (http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/fuels/natural_gas_locations.html) Fewer entries, accurate, from the DOE, easiest to use

There are 3 locations from Michigan Consolidate Gas. There was one (I didn't list it) that said they don't sell it now. Waiting for a call back. I am updating the 3 locator sites accordingly

Natural gas is soundly the lesser of two evils, but I wouldn't consider anything short of a CNG/electric plug-in hybrid with EV mode. I went "I won't consider a CNG car for other reasons".

Sorry to hear that.
I love Portland, visited there a number of times between 2002 and 2006.

I spoke to Michcon's Alternative Fuels Manager today. He had a lot of useful information
Michcon is in the retail space in Detroit for CNG to stay
CNG is currently $1.94 a gallon locally where it has been for a few years
CNG may rise a little next year depending on how the EPA actually handles new price supports
Tax credits on cars like the Honda Civic GX may expire 12/31 (again, what will actually happen?)
When I told him I was investigating a CNG conversion he gave this site to review, and said wait until February to see how the pricing really ends up
Michcon will be offering a local storage unit that can go in a garage that they will refill and you fill your car from.http://www.cleanvehicle.org/
