View Full Version : The Choke Bowl: Cowboys vs Vikings

Ten months ago, the Vikings beat the Cowboys in the playoffs - both Super Bowl contenders.

Now they are 1-3, last in their respective divisions.

This could be a tough call: who is more likely to lose Sunday?

Vikings, but only because they'll be back to where they were before Favre.

Dallas' offense will be able to move the ball quickly enough to get the game-winning field goal either in the 4th quarter or in overtime after the kicker misses.

Even though the Cows beat the Texans, I have faith (???) they can lose any game they want to.

My Cowboy fantasy is Stephen Jones starts a coup, wrests control from his father, then brings in an elite coach like Cowher, and leave him alone. Jerry has proven to everybody the past fifteen years he's not a General Manager - except Jerry Jones.

Well, my Saints are exactly hitting on all cylinders

BUT I CAN STILL ENJOY THE COWGIRLS LOSING!!

Yes I take great joy in seeing the Cowboys lose.

Thank God for the Texas Rangers!

Unfortunately the Cowboys amaze me on their ability to disappoint.

Thank God for the Texas Rangers!....or I'd already jumped off a bridge into the Trinity River. :D

Woooooo

I shouldn't enjoy the Cowgirls losing as much as I like the Saints winning- but I do!

Texas Rangers are the New Orleans Saints of MLB. :)

People are supporting them because they want the other team to lose.

:DA week ago, a poll had 40% wanting the Rangers to win the World Series. Local Dallas media suggested it might be less Cinderella effect and more "anybody but the Yankees".

I'm just happy the Rangers are a game away from the World Series. Yankee's best chance is somehow make the Rangers think they are the Cowboys - they know how to lose three in a row.

No, I actually like the Rangers-always was impressed by Nolan Ryan.
True,I hate the Yankees.

Yeah,I hate the Yankees every since they lost to Pittsburgh in the early 1960's World Series-they broke my heart.Lost despite having Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra, Roger Maris and several other big names.
How do you lose with 3 Hall of Fame players (not sure Whitey Ford is Hall of Fame)?

Pittsburgh probably had Hall of Fame players also, but I can't name one.

I suspect people will say of the four pro teams in the Dallas area, the Rangers will be known as the best run.

OK, I'm not exactly grounded in reality and acting as if Game 5 is over and the Rangers are already in the World Series. :D

Well, I'm hoping. A sweep in Yankee Stadium would be good. Then people will start talking about some of the players not being True Yankees again.

Uh Oh - Yankees 5, Rangers 1 in the 5th. :o

Yeah, the Yankees might win this one-maybe even the next one- but what are the chances they will beat Cliff Lee in a 7th game?

I would love to see the Yankees tie it 3-3, and then get beaten like a drum in the 7th game !!

It wouldn't be as good as The Red Sox comeback and humiliation of the Yankees, but it will do for now.

ItsNotAbout- thanks for the Whitey Ford Link-Hall Of Fame- heck that Yankee team had at least 4 Hall Of Fame players and it lost to Pittsburgh-it was maybe 1961-62 or so??

Just looked it up- 1960
Pirates had Bill Mazeroski and Roberto Clemente-Hall Of Famers
and poor Roger Maris isn't in the Hall of Fame. Casey Stengel is- people always held his "beating Mickey Mantle" against him.60 freakin HRs with a deadish ball, no steroids was pretty impressive.

What happened in Game 5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrg8WX3aNnA)

Hologram: "Cliff Lee - you are our only hope!" :D

Cliff Lee is all you need!
Let the Yankees tie it up-then pound them into the dirt!

The mood was summed up by two fans holding this sign, which somehow made it onto the humongous video boards: "Hurry up Cowboys, I have a Rangers game to go to." Some of the biggest cheers were for a beefy, mustachioed fan wearing a blonde wig and a skimpy Cowboys cheerleader outfit, bare midriff and all. He proved so popular that he was shown several times, including the kiss-cam segment; he got the smooch, too.

...What they basically paid Wade Phillips to do is undo everything Bill Parcells built, and what a magnificent job he has done. (http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/10/31/2591947/sundays-real-quitter-was-not-dallas.html#ixzz140atg0MZ) - story by The Little Ball of HATE.

Now that Randy Moss is on the market, there is a rumor I hope is NOT true....Jerry Jones regrets not drafting him and might take him now.

Crazy.

TO was cut because he was high-maintance....Randy Moss is TO's twin. The Cows cut Patrick Creighton to make room for Des Bryant. Getting Moss at this time would just highlight why Jerry Jones is clueless as a General Manager.

Jerry got lucky getting Jimmy Johnson as a coach and got Dallas two Super Bowl victories...the momentum actually a third one just after Jimmy left. Then one drunk night, Jerry told Jimmy he could win with any of 500 coaches and ran Jimmy out - the goose that laid the golden egg. For the next fifteen years his attempt to be as Al Davis was in the 60's and 70's has been like Al Davis now - embarrassing.

Jerry has this vivid imagination that he can magically change chicken $#!t into chicken salad....Jason Garrett is the next Sean Peyton, or Quincy Carter is the second Michael Vick, Ryan Leaf would be All Pro....can we say Indianapolis and New England do a little better job at talent evaluation? ;)

I'm at the point of saying the best thing that could happen to the Cows is the fans and sponsors to hold back until a real General Manager is in place and the owner lets him do his job - just like the first 29 years of the Cowboy's franchise.

Go Rangers!
