View Full Version : "Hypermiled" Volt - 55.4 miles of EV Nevyn 10-13-2010, 01:53 PM http://jalopnik.com/5662733/ xcel 10-13-2010, 01:56 PM Hi Nevyn: Another guy got 57 mpg in CD mode per twitter. This is what we received in a LEAF last week: http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/523/LEAF_at_MAMA_Fall_Rally_6_9_miles_per_kWh.jpg Good Luck Wayne Nevyn 10-13-2010, 02:27 PM Who would that be on Twitter? I need to follow them! :) xcel 10-13-2010, 02:32 PM Hi Nevyn: It was some AOL guy and you do not need to follow him... It was GM's Jason Laird or Chevy_Volt that have been posting every Volt "Good News" story including this one. Good Luck Wayne deleond2 10-13-2010, 02:34 PM This is what one of Jalopnik's posters had to say... "Honestly if you hypermile you can get great gas mileage in just about anything, even a poorly engineered overpriced hybrid like the volt. Of course while you are getting great mileage hypermiling in your hybrid there are people driving in a more reasonable, sane, fashion getting mileage that is almost as good in cars that are better designed. Those people are also enjoying their drive, unlike the hypermiler, who as you said is in fear of the land mine under the gas pedal." I'm not a hypermiling GOD, but I know enough to smell the BS of this comment. xcel 10-13-2010, 02:42 PM Hi Delond2: Post his name so I can call him an idiot out in the open. There is a huge differnce between fear and stupidity and we all know which side of the fence this guy resides on. Good Luck Wayne He posted under the name AMURO I posted a response to his comment, but my words are usually not as well thought out than you. xcel 10-13-2010, 03:04 PM Hi Delond2: Here it is :) Hi AMURO: You are an uninformed idiot. Wayne Wayne VegasDude 10-13-2010, 05:17 PM If I were considering either the Volt or the Leaf, I'd probably take the Leaf and use the money I saved to rent a Kia anytime I needed to take a road trip over 100 miles. It's not like the Volt will get better mileage on the freeway anyway. Maybe I'll take a plane instead and rent a Leaf when I get there if that becomes possible. SentraSE-R 10-13-2010, 06:48 PM VegasDude, No kidding. I rented a Kia Rio this Spring, driving 3600 miles from Albuquerque through CO, NE, and WY to the corner of SD, IA, and MN, then into MT and ID. I averaged over 43 mpg with the Kia, and over 45 mpg if allowed to discount two tanks while fighting 40+ mph crosswinds in SD. vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2013, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
