Another concept in battery management by a new BEV company. I don't believe the 3 R's would appreciate the 3 A's! --Ed.

AAA Automotive today announced the immediate availability in North America of its ThreeVolt all-electric compact sedan. With the ThreeVolt, start-up automaker AAA (Advanced Alkaline Automotive) introduces the Disposable Unit Massive Battery System (DUMBS©).

Key to the ThreeVolt's appeal is a battery-replacement system that eliminates the need for plug-in charging. "In fact," notes ThreeVolt Chief Engineer Li Chen, "it would be a very bad idea to charge these batteries."

In lieu of time-consuming charging, ThreeVolt owners simply replace the depleted trunk-mounted DUMBS© energy cells with a fresh pair of batteries.

Thanks to an exclusive arrangement with the discount retail chain Dollar Sergeant, replacement DUMBS© batteries are only a strip mall away.

Available on the premium ThreeVolt GLS, along with fabric seat trim and FM audio, is AAA's class-exclusive DUMBS-Nav© navigation. The DUMBS-Nav© system allows drivers to locate the nearest Dollar Sergeant for convenient battery replacement.*

"The key to operating the ThreeVolt is knowing the location of all DUMBS© retailers in your area," noted Chen. "To that end, we will make available to owners at no cost our Dollar Sergeant iPhone app. The app not only locates the nearest store, but also plots the most efficient route--downhill, if possible--to that location. This is critically important, as the ThreeVolt's range is rather unpredictable." ... http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2010-aaa-threevolt.htm

I follow CG Automotive closely and I was well into the article before I realized it was a joke. It was out of character for their tweets, but enjoyable.
