What sort of fuel economy can we expect from this performance vehicle?

The LA Auto Show is still more than two months away, but Infiniti ths morning is giving us a sneak peek at its first in-house developed M35 Hybrid.

A new power player is set to join the Los Angeles scene on November 18th as the 2012 Infiniti M Hybrid makes its North American debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. The M Hybrid, based on the popular Infiniti M sedan, promises V8 performance with 4-cylinder fuel economy – without compromising driving excitement or trunk space. It will be available at Infiniti retailers nationwide in spring 2011.

Infiniti will also showcase the new Infiniti G25 Sedan, which joins the G Line in September. The 2011 G25 Sedan shares the same dynamic exterior, interior and chassis as the G37 Sedan, but with a smaller displacement engine. The 2.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 produces 218 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. It will have a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price* (MSRP) of $30,950 USD.

In addition, Infiniti will display the new 2011 Infiniti Performance Line G Coupe, prior to its December on-sale date. The IPL G Coupe, the first vehicle in the new Infiniti Performance Line, features a 348-horspower 3.7-liter V6, sport-tuned suspension and exclusive sport exterior and interior treatments. Images of the IPL G Coupe are attached to this document.

? How can it offer 4-cyl fuel economy when the engine is a V6? At best, it'll be V8 performance with V6 fuel economy.

It might be a good thing if this is replacing the M45 V8 model.

The G25 is a good addition.

Hi Sean:

At least Nissan is keeping the Infiniti's price down a touch. I do hope it offers decent FE. I suspect however with the additional weight of the lux items including larger wheels and extra NVH isolation over and above the Altima, that is will lose 2 or so mpg from the Altima Hybrid’s 34 mpgUS combined rating?

The Lexus HS has a higher FE rating then the TCH per the EPA but in our drive, it was not anywhere near as efficient. I hope the Infiniti M does not fall into the same trap?

Is this still using Toyota's hybrid system, or do they now have an in-house one?

I suspect that assisting with take-offs can bring a V6 down to 4 cylinder economy and V8 performance if done properly.
