due to an air show. I'm not taking about the planes themselves; I'm taking about the back ups to get to where it was at. The Masspike was stop and go for about 40 miles. http://www.cbs3springfield.com/news/local/Air-Show-Causes-40-Mile-Back-Up-on-Mass-Pike-101232309.html. I was riding in my friend's vehicle going to his wife's work (which was right near the air show) for a picnic and we got caught in that mess. We didn't even care about seeing the show. What should have taken us about 45 minutes took over 3 hours. We ended up getting off the Pike at an early exit to take the back roads, but they were all jammed up as well. While sitting in traffic, I kept thinking about all the thousands of gallons of fuel that was being wasted because of that stupid air show.

Don't worry, I wasted a sh!t-ton too. Hauled 4 golf carts on a trailer from Oklahoma to here in a 1-ton 4x4 Chebby Pick-'em-up...
Hi Chalupa:
While there was a lot of fuel wasted, you reminded me of a story I heard a few years back…
When the youngsters form the former East German side of the border used to come to the west, they had to wait literally hours to get through the checkpoint(s)? Instead of running their Trabant’s, everyone shut them down and pushed them one car length at a time as a car was allowed to move through the gates miles up ahead. That was probably the only time the Trabant was an efficient and low emissions means of transport for sure ;)
JCP, I hope you at least broke through 22 mpg with the 1-Ton?
Good Luck

It would have to be downhill all the way.
Low double digits (10-12?) is what I would expect with that load, but my experience towing with chevy gas 1-tons has been significantly worse than that at times (you don't want to know:o).
Hi Rich:
That hurts and thanks for the personal experience.
I asked if Ford they needed two SuperDuty's hauled to Chicago earlier last year and they only needed the one. I was actually hoping to haul the second behind the first and see what it could do when doing a little work?
Apparently it would not do so good
