Honda will shortly unveil a hybrid concept car that previews a production version of a dedicated hybrid model due in 2008.

This will be its second dedicated hybrid, as opposed to an adaptation of a conventional model, such as the current Civic Hybrid. The first was the Insight coupé, which was also the world’s first series production hybrid car.

The new model will be Civic-sized and should cost less than the bigger £17,780 Toyota Prius. A Civic Hybrid costs £16,300. The concept version will appear at the Geneva motor show this March.

Great teaser, but wonder if it's going to be more like a hybrid Fit. Just thinking of a Newsweek article a few weeks ago that had conflicting info that this would be Insight-like, but seat 4-5

Hi Sledge:

___I am beginning to tire of Honda’s releases. It wasn’t a day after the Volt was released in Detroit they started talking about fuel efficiency of their upcoming whatever’s … Go to the show and you get nothing. Looking at Honda’s January sales figures, the Civic was a disaster and the Accord although a nice uptick will barely touch 300,000 in sales at its present rate. The HCH-II … Don’t even bother. Honda is selling more of their new trucks but their fuel efficient sedans are getting pummeled. The CRV doesn’t ring fuel efficient to me at (23/30) with me and the Ridgeline’s (16/21) w/ a 6 is a joke :( Add to it a sports car hybrid? Has Honda not yet learned their lesson with the AH yet? They need a model at 100 – 200,000 automobiles per year as they have stated in the recent past. Hopefully consisting of a hyper efficient hybrid with iCDTi or A-VTEC and possibly even PHEV but a hybrid -2-seat sports car is all but cannon fodder wrt those kinds of numbers :(

The problem with the HCH is that you can't find the darned things. I asked a sales guy about them in November and only a day or two ago has he started leaving messages on my machine. The message is "I think we will have one or two coming mid-month if you want to stop by. Call me!" I half want to call him back and tell him that I bought a Prius two months ago, not to mention that I got to choose the exact package and color I wanted plus paid nowhere near MSRP. Not that it would do any good, but you never know.

Hi Tim:

___There is a lot of good discussion about how the Civic numbers have been short month after month and now coming into year over year because of CRV production increases?

According to http://www.topgear.com/content/news/stories/1573/ , The Honda Small Hybrid Sports Concept is designed and built in Germany - dubed "Hy Flyer" :D

I can tell Jeremy Clarkson wrote this, with his apparant disdain for sub-Formula One cars showing. He lowered himself in this video > Prius owners watch out for this guy!! (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3321&highlight=anti-aircraft)

If he loves this car, it probably means it's an S2000 with twice the FE.
