Hope this is the appropiate place to post this.
Got CarChip ( www.carchip.com (http://www.carchip.com) ) a couple of weeks ago to record data on a trip. Problem is there is only one OBDII socket and you can't plug in both ScanGage and CarChip at the same time.
A few days ago, I ordered a couple of OBDII connectors. They just arrived. It's going to take some time, but need to carefully splice the cables and merge the two. Each cable has 15 wires. Once things are tentively connected, a test will be made. If it works, then it's soldered and permantly insulated.

That would rock - please post how it goes! Trip logging is part of the "next level" for a lot of us I think. For us Prius owners the alternative is the significantly more expensive CAN-view and something to capture data from it (which I haven't ruled out yet ;) ) but if the dual carchip/scangauge setup works I'd be tempted to give that a shot.

I use Car Code OBD-II www.obd-2.com (www.obd-2.com) On Board Diagnostics software for a laptop. They have it available for a pda as well. It records for playback and you can also link live gps mapping.

Delta Flyer, any progress on this?
It's been on the backburner, but will resume work on it.

OK, Chuck, it's spent enough time on the back burner. :p Any updates to report?
Not sure if I'll be able to go to Hybridfest, but in case I can, I'm thinking ahead to the MPG Challenge and having to use a ScanGauge provided by competition officials. I've become quite accustomed to CAN-View, and it would be nice to be able to run both devices.

This may be completely off but can't you get another scangauge ODB cable and plug it into the other port of the ScanGague and then get some sort of female-female ODB cable built to provide the bridge? I know it's been said that you can take an ethernet cable to bridge two scangauges together so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to bridge a scangauge and another device unless for some reason the CarChip requires pins that are not part of the ScanGuage's 8 pin connector.

If you could get 2 ODB sockets and one plug, you could easily make a 'Y' connector in about 20 minutes.
Or, you could spent $10..

Which would likely be a lot cheaper than buying the connectors.. ;)

Do you have any updates on your progress?
Will it fry your ECU if you plug 2 devices to it? I always thought the OBDII ports can only talk to 1 device at a time.

Nope.. People have plugged in two SG2 with no problem. (Short piece of cat5 cable).
I think Wayne Gerdes does it all the time..
It gives you twice as many parameters displayed at once.. :)
