I survived!!
Every year we ( me and brother) visit our sister in the Smokey Mountains. My brother been wanting to get his Harley up there and this summer he rode while i drove his car.
His car is a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix with the 3.8- 4 speed auto combo. It is rated at 18 city- 28 highway, 21 mpg combined. My brother says he gets 27-28 around town.
I Tried to do some hypemiling but i still had to keep up with him. I did DWL up the hils and neutral coast down them and would let him get a lil ahead.
His Motorcycle has a 4.5 gallon tank and he says around toewn he goes about 160-170. I told him it should be able to make 200 mile and thats what it would do. worked out to 53 mpg.
In his car i refueld at his second bike stop and stilll had 1/4 tank to go at 400 miles. worked out to nearly 32 mpg. we would do the PSL for a while then once weather warmed up he was concerned about his oil temp and would keep speeds down to 5 under.
Once we got to my sisters any driving we did i let him drive cause " Uncle Mike drives like an old man) Thats what my nieces kids said! :o:D
The drove completely oposite of how i'd drive up there. the'd hold there speed up hills and ride the brakes down.
Coming home we found a gas station with non ethanol gas and filled his car up and topped off to make sure. thats tank i pulled almost 34 mpg from it. ;) did a bit of coasting and had one coast of almost 1.5 miles while holding my speed!:D
For any Motorcycle riders in here my brother rode The "Tail of The Dragon" and said was awesome.
