Hello Everyone,
Just joined. Have known about this for some time and finally decided to get involved.
Own two hybrids, 2001 Insight 5 speed and 2005 Prius and am a member of the Milwaukee Hybrid Group. This group has helped me achieve much better mileage with both cars. Current overall average with Insight since purchased Aug 06 with 97K is 68 MPG over about 7K miles. I don't have a regular commute since I work primarily at home, so a lot of those miles are not under daily commute conditions. Part of my goals in joining your forum are to greatly increase MPG with more info and practice. Am particulary interested in pursuing plugin conversions for either or both hybrids, anything that will boost MPG. Am willing to spend time and $s to improve MPG and patiently wait for payback.
Prius mileage varies greatly, but it's mostly my spouse and son who drive and am working to increase their experience with MPG. I can achieve above EPA with it easily, but they are having a more difficult time with it.
I will share as much experience as am able. Been a mileage nut since the early 70's. My first new car was 71 Chevy Vega, was already getting over 30 MPG back then. We've come a long way since then. NOT!!! Amazing how we've gone backwards.
