Recently I put a window-mounted A/C in my bedroom/office and let the rest of the house get warmer in this 95F+ weather.

I might take it one step farther.

Just turn the A/C off and get a Freeze Suit (http://www.zacpensol.com/gallery/freeze.jpg). No more body odor - don't need to use the car's A/C either. I realize wearing it every day would have the fashion police after me....maybe if they worked up a sweat I could help with my freeze gun. :D

Chuck-we've done the same thing-reverted to window units for most of our cooling.

We have 3 window units that use 560,560, and 515 watts vs a central unit which used 3600 watts. At night we run just 2 units-under 1100 watt hrs/hr

Wish there was such a thing as a battery powered cool suit-don't the NASCAR guys have them?

There are "Ice Vests" that come in both unpowered and powered versions. Unpowered ones use frozen ice packs that get slid into compartments in the vest. Powered ones have a battery operated pump and small ice chest to circulate fluid.
