I need to get new tires soon. I have a state inspection coming up soon and one of my friend told me that my tires are borderline and most likely won't pass. I need good LRR tires in the size of 195/65/15 for my Corolla. I know there many different LRR tires out on the market, but which tires do you guys prefer/think are the best?

195/65/15

I am checking the Tire Rack site, using their handy new LRR search tool, and I see no less than 20 LRR options in the 195/65-15 size.
Lowest cost - $67 for the Kumho eco-Solus
Highest cost - $125 for the Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 with Green-X
Within that range are 8 different manufacturers to choose from.

Whether purchasing from Tire Rack or just researching and buying locally, you get a wealth of information on a wide range of LRR tires.
This link might work to take you right to the correct size:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=195/&ratio=65&diameter=15&startIndex=0&search=true&pagelen=20&pagenum=1&pagemark=1&RunFlat=All

...Then on the gray selection list on the left side, head to the bottom and select "Show ONLY LRR Tires" and have fun shopping!

I'm happy with the Energy Savers, and from what Hobbit has posted, he is as well. From the little snow we had this winter, they seem to do fine in snowy/icy conditions. For summer travel, 100F isn't hurting them either.

I have run a lot of different tires over the years. I have found that the Michelin's although a little pricey always wore the best and gave the quietest ride.

I run the MXV4 Energy's on my 960. They have around 30K miles on them and they still look like they have almost no miles on them. When my OEM Yokohama's wear out on the Prius I will be going with Michelin's as replacement tires.

I've run Pirelli, Good Year, Firestone, Bridgestone, and Michelin tires over the years.
I always end up going back to the Michelin's.

Two things to remember with the Michelin's is you run them at least 2 to 3 psi over door sticker and keep the car aligned. They will easily last 50K plus miles.

I believe diamondlarry and I both have Bridgestone Ecopia Ep100s on our cars; his prius and my corolla.

I recently destroyed my 50mpg barrier with a 57+mpg tank! I can't attribute it to the tires though, mostly good driving and good luck, but I have seen an increase with my new tires and they are very quiet (at least compared to the cheap cheap cheap primewells I had before).

I would recommend them.
(They also have the best wet braking out of all tires tested by tirerack in their LRR testing)

I think something like this should work nicely:
http://www.tirepackage.com/Tires/Super-Swamper-TSL-Bias.aspx?t_c=13&t_s=158&t_pt=100820&t_pl=3873&t_pn=SSTS-203

This is an extremely aggressive design that requires strict attention to air pressure when run on the highway.
