No driving for me today as my daughter is ill and I have to stay home to help watch her.

I had a good weekend. still going strong and getting closer to 500 miles now. Tank sitting at 482 miles. My trips to work and home are 14 miles a day, so i'm figuring to hit 500 going to work wed morning. not sure if i should see how far i can go or just take what i end up with.

I guess Sean not driving is the only way I'm going to beat his numbers today.:p I had 52F and the wind was N@ 5 mph. The round trip to my wife's work and back was a mere 96.8 mpg over 20.7 miles.

The house AC was already running this morning - 80F outside.

85.5 mpg to work, leaving the tank at 79.6 / 440 miles.

The tank is still at 79.6, now 450 miles.

Man, that commute couldn't have been much worse. Bad traffic? Check. Driving rain with all road surfaces evenly covered by an oily slick? Check. Stop for a train at the bottom of a hill? Check. :p

Not too bad for today. The temperature was 52F and the wind is NE@ 5 mph. The daily average was easy enough to figure out since it was the same for both legs:p...102.4 mpg.

Larry, my low temperatures are higher than your highs right now. 77F this morning.

83.5 mpg home last night.
87.9 mpg this morning to work.

That brings the tank up to 79.9 / 475 miles. The highest mid-tank reading on my last tank was 79.0. ;)

Oh so close now! 497.5 on the odometer right now as it sit in my driveway :D

Didn't start off too good this morning though. Only had 30 showing where usualy is 35-37 at that checkpooint :( I kept calm and didn't let it affect me and manaaged to pull a decent number coming into work.

Now coming home was fun. my boss told me it had started raining just as i was finishing up! i stood in dining room and watched and she asked if i was scared! :p I was actualy watching to see which was the cloud was moving. road wasn't too bad and actualy being wet helped me with ridge riding cauase i could see the low spots now! best part was once off long road leavinbg work and onto main road it was dry and sunny! that made me smile and i kept up my rountine and did pretty good

45.4- 6.4 miles home.

2.5 miles to go! :flag:

I'm gonna fuel up after work tommorrow but i'm gonna make sure i make 510 miles.

I had to go pick up dinner for the family. It was about a half hour after my wife got home and I took her car.


53.0mpg for 1.1mi (Home to Noodles)
76.3mpg for 1.1mi (Noodles to home ;))

It wasn't my best trip in or my best tank average at this number of miles... but so far I'm not that far off of my record setting tank since I'm still showing a full fuel gauge.

61F, 8mph cross/headwind from the WSW, clear:


111.6mpg for 22.4mi (Home to work)

The tank is down a bit to 115.1mpg over 596.6mi with 20 bars on the fuel gauge.

No punishment needed. Since I'm driving my Insight, I've had a bit of trouble getting over the learning curve. I suspect Sean and I may eventually be a bit more matched in numbers.;)

68.2 / 7.8 - pharmacy to home, on a sub-optimal route. 55 mph 2-lane with rough pavement and home-from-work traffic

This morning was better.
82.9 / 10.5 miles.

The tank is down from 79.9 to 79.6 and 497 miles.

Yesterday was the first day of using my sg in the venture. I averaged 30.2 to work, and 29.7 back home. I won't know how fully accurate that is until my second fill up, haven't done my first yet.

Well i did it or should i say "Lil Silver" did it! 512 miles!! :woot: :bananajump:

Total for this tank was 512.2 miles- 11.4 gas used. almosy hit another goal of a 45 mpg tank too!;) Oh well plenty of time for that left summer just starting down here. ;)

also was first time in a while that a full tank cost me over $30 :p

I'm going to start a thread in the hypermiling on vacation section to give more details. All in all, i am very happy with the numbers i saw on the SG and at the pump during this vacation.

From yesterday with the last trips from my vacation: 81F average temp and sunny with winds from the NE @ 4mph

- 48.1mpg for 23.1 miles from friend's place to base
- 47.0mpg for 20.5 miles from base back to friend's place

Left NC last night at 9pm to return back home. Average temp for the trip was 69F

- 48.4mpg for 147 miles from friend's place in NC to VA rest area
- 51.5mpg for 214 miles from VA rest area to MD rest area to sleep

Day total for yesterday: 47.9mpg

Got back on the road at about 9:45am this morning to finish the trip. The low for the trip was 59F and the high was 72F with scattered rain showers

- 45.5mpg for 32.2 miles from MD rest area to MD gas station

Tank fill up: 49.8mpg over 523.8 miles using 10.518 gallons

- 55.1mpg for 119 miles from MD gas station to NJ rest area for lunch
- 53.8mpg for 171 miles from NJ rest area to CT rest area (light rain and about 18 total miles of stop and go delays)
- 51.5mpg for 56.6 miles from CT rest area to home (heavier rain this trip)

Day total: 53.2mpg

The tank is currently at 53.8mpg over 347 miles with 6.6 gallons remaining.

A bit better this morning, though the fuel gauge did one of its weird skips down 2 bars instead of just one (which often happens coming off of full and half way marks).

53F, no wind, clear:

The tank is steady at 114.9mpg over 641.7mi with 17 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

81.3 this morning, fully raining. I said, @$#! it, I'm getting a good number anyway. And I did. :D

425.8 mi, 12.2 gal for 34.9MPG.

Not great, but for mostly beep-and-creep in 80degree weather, not bad.

The Civic's tranny does not like FAS, or NICE-On, so will be going to DWL/DWB only.

off work today and had a few errends to run. It's nice to drive with a warmed up car and that helped but doesn't realy show.

43.5- 5.9 to bank.

43.7 from bank to sams club. This could have been worse or better. warmed up car helped here. When I pulled in there was someone in there car with engine running and ac on, when i came out 15 minutes later they was still there. i could hear there cooling fan running trying to cool that poor lil engine.

43.5- 8.4 to conv store.

33.4 - 3.1 to home.

I lucked out and didn't get any more than a few sprinkles on the way home but the roads were damp enough to really shorten my glides.

The tank is back up to 115.1mpg over 664.6mi with 17 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Blah. At least I didn't get rained on much. Looks like tomorrow is going to give me plenty of the wet stuff, though. :p

Sounds like I have a good shot at a great FE day.;) I had 67F and the wind was SSE@ 5-10 mph. The daily average is at 107.4 mpg. I do have my weekly trip to the grocery store so it could be a nail-biter.

Jason, you're doing great! Mid-23's is better than 99.9999% of those trucks will ever see. :D

Home: :( I tried another route, which has failed for me in the past. It still fails. Too much high-speed aggressive traffic on a 2-lane.
73.8 mpg / 9.9 miles (0.134 gallons)

This morning: back to the usual, which is mostly 4+ lanes, or below 45 mph limit.
85.3 mpg / 10.7 miles (0.125 gallons)

See how the longer route uses LESS gas? :D

I had an unexpected errand to run. Gotta love relatively flat, deserted, 5+ mile non-stop stretches of road.:D The daily average is now up to 108.3 mpg. I should note that there were only 3 stops for the entire round trip (segments 3 & 4) and this was achieved with steady-state driving except for the approach to the stops. Now, if I could only do something about that annoying NOX purge thing.:p

not as bad day down here in the south :)

44.7- 8.4 miles to work. been using my longer route in morning and i'm liking the numbers i am getting with it.

45.1- 6.4 miles home. hot down here in the 'ole south!

tank sitting at 43.6- 42 miles. still sitting on full mark.

Have family coming next week to visit and i'lll be off for 5 days so no results after tuesday cause i'll be parking lil silver and will be a rider then :p

and on sat the 19 I'm going to Disney World! :D

As suspected, the grocery shopping was an mpg killer.:( I was able to hold onto 100+ but just barely. It got up to 84F today and the wind was S@ 5-10 mph.

Tank fill: 2.4 gal over 124miles for 51.6MPG.

Contributing factors included unusually difficult beep-and-creep on the Interstate, slight clutch slip due to oil, and a slick kickstand dropping the bike off the edge of the pavement.
