I, like Mike made my way here from the Gassavers forum in hopes of making the Green machine greener. I have no set commute since I work in film and am always traveling for work, but am trying to see what can do to improve my emissions. My mileage is pretty good since I'm primarily biking around town and only use the car on longer drives . I'm running way past the maximum sidewall pressure on my tires, accelerating slowly, EOC'ing whenever possible, and never go faster than 55. My mileage on the highway has risen to 46 mpg and in the city I've been getting 33-35 lately.
Any ideas for things that I can do to reduce the emissions? Ideally i would like to get this old Accord to be able to compete with any of the new ULEV vehicles on the market.

Welcome to CleanMPG!
46 is pretty hard to beat. I don't have answers for the emissions question, hopefully someone else can jump in on that one.

Can you tell me what EOCing is?

Same thing as FAS. (Engine Off Coast).

One thing about emissions is that a lot of people will tend to go for higher mileage by eliminating or bypassing emissions controls. If you want a clean car then you don't want to do that. What you want to do is make sure your car is running optimally with a good amount of air in the tire, and doing proper maintenance by replacing the air filter when needed as well is oil changes with synthetic. This will help with your mileage. The next step is to learn how to drive the car efficiently. When you increase your MPG by using good techniqes and not bypassing emissions controls you are also lowering emissions because less fuel burned = lower emissions.
