Hi; I own several vehicles, but my primary vehicles are a 1997 Honda Civic LX 5spd,and a Subaru (98)Outback 5 spd used for skiing etc. I live semi-rural,and main commute is 7 miles each way, and have been able to get 32 mpg out of the Honda, and about 23 mpg from the Subaru with effort.(on the hwy I get about 37mpg and 27mpg) Am interested in a fuel mileage gauge that would help increase my ability to instantly monitor consumption, and go from car to car. Any suggestions?? and does anybody know if there is a aftermarket transmission available for the Subaru to give it a higher top gear? Currently its low geared, turning 3300rpm at an indicated 65mph.... Thanks, and keep up the good work. Nevada City

Hi Richard:

___Since you own post 1996 automobiles, you only need to purchase a Scan Gauge (www.scangauge.com). The feedback received will pay back its minimalist costs many times over. See the Scan Gauge forum for a few details to what it is, what it does, and how we take advantage of its capabilities.

___Good Luck
