Whats going to be the best way to P&G my way from Tulsa metro to the Pheonix metro area in my Civic EX, 5MT?

Im going to make this trip of 1100 miles in days driving time and NOT spend the night on the road going or coming. So making time is very important!

But with all this time on my hands looking at Interstate 40,, of which Ive seen a dozen times in my life. I need something to keep me busy. P&G may be the answer.

My plan is to run speed limit and under. FAS my arse off and load drive. Will also surf if semi's, hwy and traffic allow.

So whats going to be the best way to P&G across the great southwestern US of A?

Hi Psy:

___If you have any kind of strong head or side winds, forget about HS P&G. It is a waste of time. Pull in behind the largest, fattest, and slowest moving semi and take the ride for all she’s worth. If there is not a head or side wind of any significance, D-FAS whenever and wherever applicable, FAS/HS P&G down any large hill or mountain, and draft when running the flats. 1,100 in 1 day means 55 - 60 mph averages without rest stops! You are moving up to the point of diminishing returns with 60 + mph averages … Drop behind the fastest OTR’er and keep dropping off to the next slower and so on until the final pulls off or whatever. Repeat. At least that is how I handled my recent drive to Florida. I received 3 what I would call terrible tanks in the mid 40’s with strong head and side winds ~ 75% of the time but did not give up and still beat the EPA highway by a healthy 30 + % margin. My FAS to steady ICE-On ratio ended up being about 100 to 1 which means basically nothing until I got back home in my home turf with the rolling pavement of the Kennedy through downtown Chicago last night. She came from 43.2 after 250 miles to 45.1 at 310 as she sits in the drive this morning.

___Because you are going to be in an ICE-On condition 99.9% of the time more then likely, might I suggest you pick up a scan gauge? It has a digital instantaneous (iFCD) and multiple trip settings (aFCD’s) that will work well other then when in performing multiple FAS’ in our non-hybrids of course. At least it will give you a reason to be ticked off when the Fuel gauge is dropping faster then you had hoped ;)

___Good Luck

I want a scangauge something awful. But to look at one makes me want to take a hammer to that ugly darn thing. The thought of it being in my car is almost something to puke over. Why they have to make it sooooo darn ugly.

I plan on surfing the semi's if it works out. I wont draft anymore. I cant scarfice the front end of my cars to being mangled by semi's throwing road grim at my cars. A blown semi trailer tire got my attention once to the tune of a new clip.

I will be getting some good ICE off coasting in Ok. the west side of the southern rockies and from Flagstff down to Pheonix. In between those areas its FLAT.
