I took part in the C7 Spring Tour (http://springtour.c7performance.com/) yesterday which took a bunch (some 150 strong) of car enthusiasts across various southern Ontario car clubs through a series of tricky Ontario backroads and ends up at a track (http://www.torontomotorsportspark.com/). It is tricky because many groups got lost multiple times.

My tires are at 46psi. The week before I installed an FAS switch and alternator kill switch, but I didn't use FAS as much because I was in unfamiliar territory most of the day. Including the drive to the cruise and back home my final trip tally is 5.9L/100km (40mpg). :woot: My average once touched 5.5/100 (42.9) as I FASed down a section of 403. I was pretty much feathering the gas in highest possible gear all the way and "re-engaging" the alternator when decelerating.

The girl ahead of me in the convoy driving a 2009 Corolla was touching the brake all the time and I was cringing, LOL. Another guy in my group drives a 09 Corolla XRS and I told him how Wayne (not mentioning any names to him) pulled extreme mileage off it. :D

Rained early on the track. I forgot to deflate the tires and spun out on first lap  :o. So did a G35, R33. One dude even planted a 911 GT3 into the wall  I did better later in the day though still could use some advanced training. Flogging the car at the track and I'm still getting 20mpg.

Hi Burrin:

___Sounds like an incredible good time!

___Were you in your 99 Corolla during all of this or something else? I have to imagine a Corolla from any year would be a handful on the track... Fun to hear your drive report though and glad to hear the 40 was achieved on unfamiliar roads.

___Thanks again for the Drive report!

___Wayne

Good Luck

I'm all for events like this by promoting fuel mileage through competition.

Mobil Economy Run of yesteryear comes to mind.

As these Fuel Mileage get togethers become more common, it'll open the eyes of the public on how much money the average person could save every year through simple driving techniques.
