The Penatgon is looking hard for ways to conserve energy. The more fuel saved, the less supply trucks in harm's way...

The U.S. Army burned 12 times more fuel per soldier in Iraq than it did in France in 1944 -- nine gallons of fuel per soldier per day in 2004

After reading the article it sounds like the different branches of the Military are trying to do something about the situation.
