If you're young, good looking and outgoing, here is your chance for easy money this summer. Les Sables d'Olonne, a beach and sailing resort on the Atlantic coast, is offering 850 euros a week to rub suntan lotion onto tourists from mid July to late August.
Les Sables, which has a record of publicity stunts, opened applications for what it calls "creamers" today. Two lucky winners -- a man and a woman -- will be picked by a jury in June after pre-selection by voting on the internet. The winners are expected to be sociable types with good speaking skills and some medical knowledge. English or German are also an advantage, as obviously is beauty.
"We are recruiting two young people who will apply crème solaire and above all advise tourists on protection," said François Boche, Director of the town's tourist office. Free sun products will be handed out and priority will be given to children -- in the presence of their parents. To avoid problems, lotion will only be applied to the upper back and arms of the resort's visitors. The creamers will work 35 hours a week, which makes their pay far above average French wages.
