View Full Version : Any experience with these shades?

I noticed cars from various manufacturers with these on a trip to Europe earlier. They appear to be mesh shades that are custom-fit for specific models, offering privacy and UV reduction without actually applying tinting film. They stay in place when the windows are partially down as well, so they can allow ventilation in a parked car and keep bugs out (and my dog's head in). These are different from the "auto sox" (?) things that slide over the top of the door frame and window.

Honda has these available on their UK web site as options for the HCH II and I2, but I can't find them anywhere in the US except for here https://www261.safesecureweb.com/myautoshades/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=51%20&CategoryID=6.

Anyone know how I can get sets for my HCH II and I2 short of a trip across the pond? Has anyone used these and have feedback on them?

Hi GreenRider:

___I do not know where you can get them but I have seen them in a number of vehicles. The new Jetta Sportwagen and Cadillac's w/ Sunroofs use this kind of shade to cover the sun roof vs. a sliding panel that most are used to. I do not like them as there is too much sun coming through when you do not want it but it’s not a blazing amount, just enough not to let you sleep while in the back seat comfortably... Given this will cover a side window, anything is better than nothing for sure and for the kids, it would be great!

I have a set on my Mtr. Home. They snap to the body over the windows. This would not be acceptable to do with a car, but you could attach Velcro on the inside window frame and accomplish this from inside, I'm sure? Check with a RV suppliers or upholstery shop.

I found a company in CA the makes something similar but they actually attach to the windows. Not my favorite choice. I just can't seem to find any importers for this stuff, OEM or otherwise.

I have seen them in truck stops before I think.
