Jimbo7 12-13-2006, 08:31 AM Hi,
I just joined;
This site seems to have a lot of good info.
I drive a 2007 Honda Fit, base model, manual trans;
I have already done a few things to increase mileage -
Equipment - closed wheel covers, tires to 40 psi, rear wheel pants, underbody sheet metal, Scan Guage II.
Techniques - smooth accel, decel, anticipating stops, coasting in neutral;
Have had the car for 7 months, mileage started at about 40, now getting about 44.

As an Insight driver (not now - it's being repaired after a hit-and-run), naturally I'd think the Fit is a good car.
rhwinger 12-13-2006, 10:00 AM Welcome Jimbo7! We are almost neighbors!
Sounds like some interesting mods. Any pictures of the wheel pants? Are the wheel pants something you ordered or made?
Thanks in advance.

Wheel PANTS?
A big welcome to you and your pants, Jimbo7.

Wheel PANTS?
A big welcome to you and your pants, Jimbo7.
Pants for a boy car, skirts for a girl car.
Most folks call them wheel skirts. A option on many car's from the factory pre wwII, post wwII on into the mid 1960's. You dont see them offered much anymore by the factory's. Gives the car a streamliner look, by covering up the rear wheels. And they can reduce drag.

Hello Jimbo7
Good job with the Fit. Please feel free to use the mpg database here.
What do you drive the most? City or Hwy?
Enjoy the Fit.

Hi Jimbo7:
___Our first Fit driver! Welcome and congrats on the purchase. I have some misgivings about the Fit’s ratios but they are a fuel efficient lot vs. anything else most would have considered other then a hybrid. And whoever created those Magic Seats should be given a Nobel Prize :D
___As everyone else asked, pics are good ;) Did you purchase the aluminum type wheel covers or find something else for a lot less $ and a lot less hassle? And what did you use for the skirts?
___About the underbody … Before the Fit came to the US, I was looking at underbody panels for them as well. I found a Honda Fit - Mugen Dynamite Underbody Aero Kit that looked really slick. To bad they didn’t sell these kits for all makes and models! I cannot wait to see your fabricated solution.

___Good Luck and welcome to CleanMPG!

JimboK 12-13-2006, 04:56 PM Hello, Jimbo7, from another Jimbo... and another from the Richmond area. Chesterfield, to be exact. (Actually, I'm "from" Richmond originally. I just live in Chesterfield now.) And welcome to the site.
tbaleno 12-13-2006, 09:31 PM Welcome Jimbo7. Great start. Sounds like you have a pretty good idea on what you are doing.
Skwyre7 01-02-2007, 07:25 AM Welcome Jimbo7. I'm kind of new here myself. I've read a lot on this site before, but didn't register until now (I don't know why, exactly). JimboK suggested that I register, so here I am.
tbaleno 01-02-2007, 08:59 AM Welcome to CleanMPG! Always good to see a name vs Guest when viewing who is looking at the site.
