Hey all,

I've been looking online, unfortunately to no avail; I'm looking for a picture (And model, and any other information) that I think Honda debuted of a single occupant EV. It looked a bit like an egg on it's side as the occupant pod, with the wheels underneath/beside it. As I recall, it was a short range EV for the quick errand running public.

I rather liked it, and to be honest, given my location, I'd very seriously consider getting a small EV my local driving. I would need very little range, and just enough space for myself, and say 4 bags of groceries. I'm less than 2 miles from just about everywhere I'd need to go that's not work or family related, so that would be something I could really use. (Especially since I recall the price tag was about $2K) Or really any cheap EV that meets those guidelines? (It would have to be enclosed, and posess a heater though, and have enough power to go through snow.)

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Hi Rich:

___You may have seen the Toyota PM2 personal Mobility EV? This thing stands up like a robot when you park it with a footprint no larger then a lazy boy recliner ;)

___I would not hold my breathe for one over here and more then likely, it would be in the $15K + range. I think your money would be better spent on a HyMotion FEH PHEV conversion instead? Think about that conversion as I would bet we will see the 12kWh Li-Ion pack and a DIY conversion suite for < $6K in maybe 3 - 4 years. 12kWh would take your FEH out maybe 40 – 50 miles on EV alone at speeds below 35 mph. Winter heat may be a problem while in EV mode however?

___Good Luck

Was it the old Corbin Motors Sparrow?

The company is gone but the vehicle still lives as the Myers Motors NMG.

That's it! That's the one! :woot: That think looks so neat!

:( Drat. 15K is too much for a second short range vehicle, even if it did come out in the US. Well, then again, as a pseduo-Transformer, maybe I would be tempted. ;)

The FEH conversions to PHEV that I've seen are about 10K, far too pricey (In addittion to voiding the warranty!). Sure, the price will come down as time goes on, but I was thinking more of a short term solution. Perhaps at some future date I'd consider or do it it, but for now, no thanks.

Mostly because to get it usable in Michigan the options bump the price up to about 11K, 1K more than the hymotion conversion kit for the FEH.

A buddy down in NJ *owns* a Sparrow, and I'm trying to get him to
bring it to the "substitute Tour de Sol (http://www.eevc.info/eevc_hmtl_events.html)" down there in June, but
he hasn't answered his mail yet.
