View Full Version : Another interesting Reverse Pass Chuck 02-24-2010, 12:16 AM As I reverse passed today outside my neighborhood, the car passing had a sign: "STUDENT DRIVER" Right Lane Cruiser 02-24-2010, 06:42 AM Ever reverse pass an unmarked cop car? Yup. I have. In fact, I reverse passed a marked cop car once... it was dark and I couldn't see the lightbar. No problems so far! :o Sulfuric 02-24-2010, 10:57 AM Ever reverse pass an unmarked cop car? Yup. I have. No problems so far! :oActually that also happened to me last night. Right Lane Cruiser 02-24-2010, 11:47 AM You are correct that it isn't illegal, but it does elicit some interest. It doesn't bother me unless they refuse to pass. :p Taliesin 02-24-2010, 02:15 PM It's not like it's illegal though. Umm... It is in Missouri. "For highways that have been divided into three or more lanes, a person, driving at less than the normal speed of traffic, shall drive in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway. '304.015.5(3)" Also, this is our law that applies to "minimum speed": "No person shall operate a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic. '304.011.1" Open to a lot of interpretation... PaleMelanesian 02-24-2010, 03:15 PM Isn't there also one about tailgating, though? Taliesin 02-24-2010, 03:39 PM Isn't there also one about tailgating, though? Yes there is, but the only time it is enforced is if an accident happens. gabe1475 02-24-2010, 03:46 PM As I reverse passed today outside my neighborhood, the car passing had a sign: "STUDENT DRIVER" That is too funny. Almost as funny as an elderly lady that got pissed off at me for coasting to a red light too slow, passed me and gave me the finger as she passed. I can't even say I drive like grandma - even she passes me!:) Sulfuric 02-24-2010, 04:28 PM Umm... It is in Missouri. '304.011.1" Open to a lot of interpretation... Yeah that is open a lot of interpretation. It's probably to be used when someone is driving 35 in a 70 zone, however, it could be a problem if the person who pulled you over is mean/bad day/discriminating/etc? I doubt this law would apply to a reverse pass though, as the person "passing" you probably isn't going much faster, especially if they caught up to you and slowed to your speed. Sulfuric 02-24-2010, 04:30 PM You are correct that it isn't illegal, but it does elicit some interest. It doesn't bother me unless they refuse to pass. :p I get nervous when a patrol car is behind even I KNOW I'm not doing anything wrong. It's a reaction I want removed from my brain. Kurz 02-24-2010, 09:16 PM I get nervous when a patrol car is behind even I KNOW I'm not doing anything wrong. It's a reaction I want removed from my brain. It will come in time. I realized one day... as long as I am doing nothing wrong he wont pick on me. hobbit 02-25-2010, 01:18 PM If a patrol car's right behind me I'd have no hesitation at all about using my hazards [not the YB] and thumb to get him the hell off my tail. If he uses that as an excuse for a pullover, then he's guaranteed to "have his day in court" and it ain't gonna be pretty. . I would be hesitant about a reverse pass about any time, though, because it doesn't encourage lane discipline. If THEY want to go faster, the burden is on THEM to make a safe pass and do it. . I have in fact YB'ed *other* people off my butt within sight of a statie on an occasion or two, and they didn't even look at me funny. . _H* vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
