Sorry to not do an article outright, but Kerkorian sold the reminder of his GM shares (not verified yet). I don't know the rhyme or reason and he is undoubtly a much better businessman than I, but why didn't he either sell his 10% of GM stock at once or space it out over months for maximum publicity? Need verification, but I think he sold off his GM stock on three occassions close together. If his intent was to "send a message" to GM, it seems he would have done it differently.
I hope GM is finally responding to the need they have got to reinvent themselves.

It's not about a message to anyone. It's about power. He made money, he moved on to other areas where he can flex more authoratative power.
Hi Chuck:
___I have watched some of Kerkorian’s deals over the last 2 decades and he doesn’t give a rats @$$ about the companies he stirs up, he only cares about getting in and then out for the fast buck. If someone like Warren Buffet gets involved, you know it is a long term commitment for the turnaround, seeing Kerkorian is like seeing a weasel in the hen house grabbing as many quick meals as he can possibly eat and getting the hell out looking for the next hen house at the farm down the road. This guy is a scourge, not a savior by any means.
___Good Luck

Speaking of Warren Buffet - he is nowhere near 89 and he is thinking about legacy. Kerkorian - did you hear that?

In the same tokan, Kerkorian’s no dummy and did not get his billions by being stupid, the handwritings on the wall, these rice burners are sinking the Amderican car companies that are at least 10 years behind the power curve. The other day the CEO of GM came on CNN and said they will be making the Hummers into multifuel and building bigger engines because the customers want them. That theory to me is so ludicrist at a time when they should be trying to conserve not build more fuel hogs. I worked for GM for over 40 years and would not buy anything they sell period!!!!

I hear you about Kerkorian bailing out of GM, but I'm figuring if I were in his place - why not hold a press conference and say:
"I thought GM would wake up and smell the coffee, but on one side of their mouth they talk about ultra-cool/green concept vehicles that will come out in 2016, while they bet their real money on the market being like 1996 and $1.25 a gallon gas. My forture was made investing in companies that confronted their challenges, unlike GM".
Who knows? It might trigger that shakup in management that GM needs.
