2007 Opel Antera - much nicer looking and more fuel efficient.

DETROIT - General Motors plans to unveil the redesigned 2008 Saturn Vue crossover at the Los Angeles Auto show Wednesday, Nov. 29. The vehicle is scheduled to arrive in showrooms in the second quarter of 2007.

The Vue is expected to continue as a core Saturn product. In 2005, Saturn sold 91,972 Vues.

The new Vue shares a vehicle architecture and exterior styling with the 2007 Opel Antara. The two vehicles are virtually clones in terms of design.

The 2007 Antara is on sale in portions of western Europe. The Vue will be assembled in the United States, but GM has not identified the plant. Both vehicles were developed by GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. on a front-drive, unibody platform.

Saturn plans to offer the Vue with a more powerful four-cylinder engine than the current model, along with two V-6s. A six-speed automatic transmission will be standard.

The 2008 Vue continues as a five-seater with dimensions nearly the same as the 2007 model. One major change is the body panels. The current Vue has composite panels; the 2008 model uses sheet metal.

The current Vue starts at $18,100 including shipping. Saturn sources have said the new model will be priced higher than the 2007 because the brand is moving upmarket.

The Vue is expected to compete with the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4.

Hi Rich:

___Because its lineage appears to be from Europe, you can bet it will have a nice looking interior …

___As for the rest, I can almost bet it receives the Greenline’s I4 w/ a 6-speed. We will watch the sixth and final ratios closely to see if GM pulls a Honda/Toyota on it and makes the ancient by comparison Greenline look better then it really is. While they are at it, they may as well add the BAS to every GM vehicle and upcharge another $350 given that is all it is worth. At least it would help reduce fuel consumption and emissions in the long run.

___The exterior of the Antera looks much better then the current VUE by a long shot. I wonder how GM will screw this up?

___Good Luck

___Wayne
