The beautiful and fast BMW 530i will soon be available w/ a fuel efficient diesel.

Bluetec is fast becoming generally accepted. The clean Diesel is in the future by not only DaimlerChrysler but also the other large German automobile companies. Rumors at the LA Autoshow are that AUDI and VOLKSWAGEN will equip their German diesel engined vehicles with the modular exhaust technology. BMW will use LA Autoshow to announce the employment of Bluetec for their diesel engined vehicles in the US. The German automobile industry using Diesel engines with Blutec technology is looking for a competitive advantage as the demand for diesel engined vehicles in the USA expands. The current J.D. Power study “Global Outlook For Diesel” is expecting Diesel’s to make up as much as 15% of the automobiles sold in the US by 2015.

In October 2006, the Mercedes E-class became the first passenger sedan introduced into the North American market to use this new Diesel technology. The vehicle is the cleanest Diesel passenger car of the world and reached the American Teir II/Bin 8 qualification. MB announced it will make a Teir II/Bin5 qualified diesel for all-50 states using Blutec by 2008 including the M and GL-class. Even the densely populated state of California and the 4 cleans states of the East Coast will have a choice to own diesel engined vehicles.

BLUETEC is a modular emission control system for diesel engines which reduces nitrogen oxides. The NOx emissions of today’s Diesel engines are still far above those of petrol engines. At the same time diesel engines use 20 to 40 percent less fuel and provide a substantial contribution for the decrease of CO2 Emissions.

The science magazine Scientific American selected BLUETEC to one of the 50 trailblazing innovations in science and technology of the yearly 2006. Popular Science, the oldest and most well-known American science magazine, took up BLUETEC to its list of the best product innovations of the yearly “Best of What's New”.
