View Full Version : Week of January 25th - January 31st, 2010 (Nat Avg $2.72)
Right Lane Cruiser 01-25-2010, 06:30 AM Welcome to the last week in January!
The trip in wasn't so bad, but this wind is going to really hurt on the way home. :p
25F (11F windchill), 18mph tail/crosswind from the WNW, light snow:
81.7mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is up to 75.6mpg over 664.5mi with 3 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
I guess I'll be filling up on Wednesday.
diamondlarry 01-25-2010, 07:52 AM I'm off to a relatively decent start for the day. The FCD was displaying 32F this morning and the winds were SW@ 5-10 mph with gusts to 20+ mph. The daily average is at 65.8 mpg. I just went to 1 pip on the guess-gauge this morning so I'll fill up either before I go to pick up my wife this afternoon or on the way home. The FCD is reporting 65.2 mpg for just under 570 miles on this tank.
68.1 8.9
64.0 10.2
Ophbalance 01-25-2010, 10:15 AM 54 F (yay)
* 60.1 over 6 miles to preschool
* Forgot to reset, but 67.2 overall for the 12 miles.
Dang... I like warmer weather, and no traffic :)
Chalupa102 01-25-2010, 02:38 PM Started school back up today after having about a month off.
Was not such a great day for f/e. Windy and heavy rains with standing water on the roads. The only good thing is that it's not snow. Average temp was 55F with rain and winds from the S at 23mph.
- 43.7mpg for 21.9 miles from home to school on the back roads.
- 37.9mpg for 23.3 miles on the trip back home :(.
Tank average has dropped to 43.8mpg.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-25-2010, 03:05 PM I was right about the wind not being fun on the way home. :p
The snow has built up quite a bit and with ice and water mixed in on the roads it makes driving... interesting.
21F (6F windchill), 18mph cross/headwind from the WNW, snowing:
74.2mpg for 22.6mi (Work to home)
The tank is back down to 75.4mpg over 687.1mi with 2 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
Day total: 77.7mpg over 45.4mi
I guess I'll be filling up tomorrow instead of Wednesday.
diamondlarry 01-25-2010, 06:06 PM There wasn't much of a change in temperature today; we only hit a high of 34F. Winds stayed stiff and were SW@ 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
68.1 8.9-to get coffee
64.0 10.2-on to wife's work and back home

65.9 20.0-on to wife's work and back home

77.7mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is back up to 75.6mpg over 709.9mi with 2 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
PaleMelanesian 01-26-2010, 08:31 AM I was rushing to get home = 57.6 mpg
This morning my battery was low, and at one of the last lights it wasn't enough to crank the engine over. It did, however, reset my scangauge. There was enough downhill that I crept along until I could bump-start, but I collected some angry commuters in the process.
2 results:
- I've been neglecting my battery charger this week. No more!
- I have to hand-calculate that missing portion (~10 miles and about 65 mpg) for the rest of this tank, which is still above Full.
Chalupa102 01-26-2010, 12:35 PM Much better day today :). Average temp 40F with very little wind.
- 46.9mpg for 22.6 miles from home to the gym.
- 41.5mpg for 9.1 miles from the gym to school.
- 44.5mpg for 23.3 miles from school to home.
Tank average is currently up to 44mpg.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-26-2010, 03:17 PM I wish the wind would let up around here!
8F (-8F windchill), 11mph cross/headwind from the W, sunny:
75.2mpg for 23.2mi (Work to Costco -- didn't swing by my house this time just to see how bad the route would be)
80.8mpg for 2.5mi (Costco to home)
The tank FCD ended at 75.6mpg over 733.2mi with one bar left on the fuel gauge. Pumping resulted in a fill of 9.882g with a calculated tank average of 74.2mpg. It was a good bit colder for this fill and the pump was chugging extra slow... <shrug>
Day Total: 76.6mpg over 48.5mi

The tank is down to 78.9mpg over 25.3mi.
I've got my monthly lunch out with friends so this number will surely drop a bit. :p

Day Total: 74.9mpg over 25.0mi
JusBringIt 01-27-2010, 12:18 PM I haven't really felt to report my most recent numbers, but I have to report these...
I did get a 35.6mpg over 6.8mi into work this morning, so I know my SG is working properly
I went home for lunch on a cold engine,
6.8mi @ 41.5mpg (this is summer number territory)
Coming back to work:
6.8mi @ 60.3mpg
I'll just wait till the end of the next tank to verify that what I'm doing is actually working. :D.
Ambient Temp was 35F btw
Right Lane Cruiser 01-27-2010, 01:54 PM Ricardo? What the... ??

I found my new route to take on M,W,F to school. It's also gonna be my bicycle route when i start riding once or twice a week. The other route i was taking had 23 stop lights, and this new one only has 16. When i first pulled into my parking lot sg2 was showing 45.1mpg. Unfortunately myself and about 5 cars in front of me and 10+ cars behind coming in had to turn around and go to another lot. Trying to find the other lot and Springfield traffic dropped f/e a lot . I need to leave earlier from now on so this doesn't happen again.
Average temp today was 35F with very little wind.
- 43mpg for 23 miles from home to school after having to deal with city traffic trying to find the other parking lot . I was also late to class.
- 38.4mpg for 8.3 miles from school to the gym.
- 41.4mpg for 9.1 miles from the gym back to school.
- 44.1mpg for 23.3 miles from school to home.
