I'm just wondering if u guys have any f/e goals that u would like to meet this year? For me personally, my plan is to break at least 45mpg with my Corolla and keep it constant once the weather warms back up.

Sure. I want to make some changes to my daily driver Geo that will push me into the 48-50 mpg average.

I have yet to install my mpguino, a lightened crank pulley a friend turned for me but I haven't picked up, a proper grill block, rear fender skirts, an underbelly tray, change the antifreeze mixture, I haven't even checked my tires pressure this past month.

I have room for improvement for sure. I think if I put doors on my 3 sided carport I would get more done. It's 28*F right now and I'm not likely to get anything done until it gets warmer.

I think I'll check my tire pressure today. It's a start. :o - Dale

Done My goal is to finally break 60 mpg lifetime. There's a lot of winter-weather learning curve at the beginning of my log, which is difficult to overcome.

Goal 2 is to make some subtle improvement to the Ody to help its mileage. A partial plexiglass upper grille block is item #1. Maybe I'll finally get it (her ;)) a scangauge as well.

Done Goal 3 is a stretch, but I'd really like to bag a kilotank. I'll need 79+ mpg to reach that.

Likely. 71.8 as of May Goal 4: average 70+ mpg for the year. 68 last year.

Done One more: keep my tanks above 65 this winter. Last year I barely kept it above 60, but I'm doing better this time. The weather is much colder this year, though.

Goal 1: Keep my winter tanks above 30 mpg.
That's going to be very difficult with the current and incoming weather. Very cold and more snow coming today.

Goal 2: pull a 43 mpg tank in the summer.

work on a 500+ mile tank (warmer wether ;))
get a 25 MPG Tank (also in warmer wather;))

Look in to getting money set aside to replace this FSP.:p

I'm looking forward to getting a 60 mpg commute week... then two... then three!!! I don't run the tank down, I hate it when it is less than 1/4 tank actually. But, at 60 mpg it would be over a 650 mile tank. My best commute tank of 58 mpg made for a possible 643 mile tank, close but not the magic 650.

500 miles on one tank or 60MPG. (8.7Gal Tank) Not sure what will be possible for overall average as I can not get by without AC in the summer.

To have a 900km tank. Almost made it last year. Maybe hit a 60 mpg tank and do more shoeless driving. Found that helped huge last summer!

Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind getting a few more 600 mile tanks. I would really like to try for a 650 though.

There's other forums besides the "daily grind'?? :p

I have a few i'd luv to put up.

500 mile tank. I'd have to refuel very slow and make sure to squeeze some extra into it. most likely a summertime thing.

a 50 mpg trip: again another summertime thingy!

45 mpg tank. I've had 43 and 44 so with some thing i have been trying in the cold i think i can do this one.

I'd love to hit 21mpg on the highway with my Mustang. I've been tantalizingly close twice - one tank at 20,8, and another at 20,9 - with a landscape edging air dam and some thinner Valvoline VR1 oil to replace my Rotella 15w40 (I need the zinc to properly lube my flat tappets), I think it's entirely doable.

I'd love to spend more time over 17mpg as well on my commute.

I'm trying to keep my first goal (winter tanks over 30), but it's looking dicey for this one.

But I can't take all the blame. It did go to the dealer with the normal test drives and idling that happens there.

I have been pretty bad this winter. Leaving for work late, idling alot more then I would ever do in the summer. The cold air and snow tires makes it so frustrating!!

I think another one of my goals will be to post more tanks then I usually do.

Goal 5 (65+ tanks all winter) probably* accomplished. 65.3 fillup this morning.

*The weather is warming up, and February has been my lowest FE month for 3 years in a row now.

My goal is to learn whatever my new commute is well enough to keep pulling 40 MPG tanks.

Another goal is to pull a solid 45 MPG tank.

I've got two goals this year- starting when it finally warms up.

1. Achieve or beat a 40mpg tank (regular suburban commute)
2. Achieve 45MPG over over a 1000 mile round trip this summer. This would be the first trip of this kind that I've taken in the car since it got it. No idea if 45mpg is reasonable - but that's the target...

PaleMelanesian

My older civic will do 45 on the highway by just setting the cruise control to 60. It's only rated 1 higher than yours. I think that's attainable.

Done - 60 mpg lifetime
Done - kilotank (1108 miles, 80.2 mpg)
Done - 65 mpg winter avg
Likely - 70 mpg average for all of 2010. 71.8 right now.

Not done - mods to the Ody

Nice work, Andrew!!

I did manage to keep the lifetime above 90mpg this year -- I'm currently back up to 90.9mpg but this weather lately is making it hard to drag it higher. I'd like to exceed 92mpg...

Keep my winter tanks over 30 mpg - Done!
Another 600 mile tank - Done! (looking for more)

Not done yet:
650 mile tank
43 mpg tank - heck, I haven't even managed a 40 tank yet this year.

I'm working on learning the new commute. So far I've driven it one week.

I have a solid 45 MPG tank, now I need a solid 50 MPG one!

My last four fill ups were over 45mpg. Now my new goal is to get 47-48mpg constantly, which maybe tough with all the hills around here, but i'll see what i can do. Another one of my goals is to put more miles on my bicycle than my car once school starts back up for the fall.

50 MPG tank: CHECK! Filled up yesterday, just over 50 MPG. I was quite surprised when the fill only showed 8.5 gallons; I tried to put more in and it clicked off--twice!

Hopefully it's not a bogus result and I can keep pulling these sort of numbers. We'll see!

One of mine is gonna fall soon (500 mile tank) and i'm pretty sure it'll be a 45 mpg tank also! As of today the ole sg showing 44.9 mpg. Just have to see what the pump does when i refuel.

I think I may start carrying a gas can in the car with me. The gauge seems to be getting more pessimistic; the last two fills have been 8.5 gallons. If I can work up a decent tank, and I don't have to get paranoid about running dry, I may be able to run it 500 miles.... :)

Sadly, the next tank after the 50 MPG one was "only" 45 MPG. ;)

Current|Goal

38.05 MPG 1 trip|39 MPG 1 trip
33.7 MPG Tank|34 MPG Tank

My new goal: To purchase a new monster -- A Honda Civic 5MT. (where our budget allows)

Staying above 50 for the year, preferably with a comfortable cushion given this year's mild winter.

But I'll take as much as I can get.

1 Done = 504 Miles
2 still working on it (best so far 24.57) I may have to do a short tank to get 25:o

#2 was done on 8/12 with a tank of 25.04 MPG (just sneaking it in there)

So summary of 2010:

Gals Used = 292.499
Miles driven = 6650.7
Money used on Gas = $756.64
Avg MPG for the year = 22.7 (151% over EPA of 15 combined)

And now the savings (I used 17 for the MPG as I was getting better than the EPA most of the time before)

Gals saved because of HM = 98.72
Money saved because of HM = $254.41

Less over all usage from last year as well :Banane18:

Still hanging on to 22.5 MPG lifetime average.:)

Well, I managed to stay above 50, with a bit of room. I actually ended up a little under 53 for the fills in 2010.

This year I should have more winter miles (a good thing because my reduced miles last year were due to a bad thing). Given that it'll probably be colder this winter I'll just take any improvement in 2011.

I want to try to drive my car less than 2000 miles this year.

I'm trying to go sub 4000. For me chasing MPG is futile, so the better and more attainable goal is to reduce VMT.

My other goal is to lose 15 lbs, which would hopefully influence my MPG.
