View Full Version : Week of January 4th - January 10th (Nat Avg $2.68)
Right Lane Cruiser 01-04-2010, 06:25 AM Welcome to another frigid morning in January!
I spent pretty much the entire trip in trying to replenish the two bars lost on my SoC last Friday... :p
Really cold weather kind of stinks.
-12F, 3mph crosswind from the WNW, clear:
65.8mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is back up to a still embarrassing 59.9mpg over 81.8mi :o
diamondlarry 01-04-2010, 07:14 AM My Palm Lifedrive died and I didn't have anything to write with today!:( The Palm had every entry for nearly every trip my Prius has ever made. I do know that I had an average of right around 51 mpg. The temperature was 22F and the wind was NW@ 5-10 with snow covered roads. Welcome to 2010.:(
PaleMelanesian 01-04-2010, 09:05 AM I use pencil and paper, tear off a strip to update to my XLS file, which is then automatically backed up.
70.4 mpg this morning, at 29F. That's a new "coldest 70+ mpg commute" record, by 8 degrees.
Tank sits at 65.3 and 482 miles.
JusBringIt 01-04-2010, 10:00 AM 15F
6.7mi @ 32.8mpg into work this morning.
Ophbalance 01-04-2010, 10:03 AM Woot... garages rock. Starting out, the car reported 37F then quickly dropped to 25F. 54.3 MPG to preschool over 6 miles, and then 54.0 (at about 27F and mostly highway) over 51 miles to work. I wish we had an indoor parking center ;).
Right Lane Cruiser 01-04-2010, 11:09 AM Matthew, you definitely aren't the only one!!
JusBringIt 01-04-2010, 12:19 PM went home for lunch today.
22F
6.7mi @ 39.5mpg. Traffic at this time was spectacular.
This is what happens when traffic is nice and you have a warm engine:
6.8mi @ 51.3mpg back to work :woot: That is definitely a record! Traffic was exceptional. Why can't it be like this all the time? My peak was at 56.0mpg just before the last mile and a half.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-04-2010, 02:10 PM 4F (-8F windchill), 7mph wind from the NW, sunny:
72.3mpg for 20.0mi (Work to doctor's office)
The tank is back up to 62.0mpg over 101.9mi
Day Total: 68.8mpg over 42.9mi
PaleMelanesian 01-04-2010, 02:19 PM Whew, Sean! You've been battling some serious winter there, for your tank average to be below mine.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-04-2010, 03:38 PM Hi, Andrew -- I like cold weather but hate what what it does to my mileage!
8F (-4F windchill), 7mph wind from the NW, sunny:
66.7mpg for 3.7mi (Doctor's office to home)
The tank is up to 62.2mpg over 105.7mi with all 20 bars still showing on the fuel gauge.
Day Total: 68.6mpg over 46.6mi
Chalupa102 01-04-2010, 04:02 PM Left late today and it was a mistake. Had to deal with way more traffic on the way there (sat at a light and watched it change twice cuz the traffic didn't move and trouble finding a parking spot). Average temp was 28F with very little wind.
42.9mpg for 22.6 miles from home to the gym.
42.5mpg for 22.7 miles on the way back home.
The tank average is up 42mpg as of now. Good thing it's at the very beginning with 52.3 miles on this tank.
diamondlarry 01-04-2010, 04:47 PM My daughter made some note pads in her graphics arts class so I'm putting one in the car until I can upgrade my cellphone to something that's easier to make notes on. I'm not eligible for and upgrade until June but I may be upgrading my plan anyway. Anywho, today's FE really stunk. I couldn't get any segments anywhere near 60 mpg with a best of just a smidge over 54 mpg. I tried an experiment today on the way home from my wife's work and got some interesting results. On the way to her work, I took my usual route on the county roads and did my usual P&G routine with top speeds averaging 35 mph with occasional bursts to 40 mph to take strategic advantage of some hills. I used no heat and the trip took around 20 minutes for 9.4 miles. The roads were moderately snow covered and hadn't been plowed for several hours. The mpg was 50.1 mpg. On the way home, I took the state highway and traveled 55-60 mph (roads were cleared of snow and were wet) while using SHM/high-speed P&G. The mpg was 49.8 mpg and I had the heat on at 65° and the fan on medium and the trip was actually ~.3 miles shorter and only took about 12 minutes. I think on days when road conditions are similar to today's, I will start taking the highway and use it to refine my SHM technique.
JusBringIt 01-04-2010, 05:17 PM couldn't fas home tonight :(.
8.5mi @ 22.8mpg work to parents
1.7mi @ 20.4mpg parents to home.
Ophbalance 01-04-2010, 05:20 PM Huh... I'm perplexed. 63.1 over 41 miles at 36 F to food lion, then 70.8 over 6 miles home. I cannot believe that's possible at those temps. Heck, it's the same at 55-65 F as well. Odd.
JusBringIt 01-04-2010, 05:31 PM Huh... I'm perplexed. 63.1 over 41 miles at 36 F to food lion, then 70.8 over 6 miles home. I cannot believe that's possible at those temps. Heck, it's the same at 55-65 F as well. Odd.
I think you're just getting better with the Prius. :).
Ophbalance 01-04-2010, 05:58 PM Hah, I wish. There's only so much you can do on the highway. If gas ever climbs back up to $4/gal, you'll find me doing 55 MPH... that's for sure ;).
lxmike 01-04-2010, 08:16 PM update: tank sitting at 40.3 currently. cold weather hurts me cuase of my short trip i have. also today traffic seemd to be against me everywhere i was. oh well past few trips have been sub 40 mpg range and that has dropped to where i sit now.
I'll see temps as cold as sean does tommorrow morning. In The freezer at work:p:D
Right Lane Cruiser 01-04-2010, 08:33 PM Mike, that made me laugh!!
:biglol:
Right Lane Cruiser 01-05-2010, 06:17 AM I seem to have broken one of the solder connections on my FAS button. I'm not sure when I'll be able to fix it as my unheated garage is hardly hospitable right now. :(
-10F, 1 mph wind from the W, clear:
69.6mpg for 22.7mi (Home to work)
The tank is back up to 63.4mpg over 128.4mi with 19 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
My tiny 12V doesn't like key FAS in this weather. :ccry:
PaleMelanesian 01-05-2010, 08:44 AM 23F and frosty here this morning. I was running late, so I had to take the short/fast route in the middle of traffic hour. :(
51.8 mpg / 8.8 miles. That brings my tank down from 65.4 to 64.9 and 510 miles.
JusBringIt 01-05-2010, 08:51 AM 15F into work this morning
6.9mi @ 30.8mpg.
Ophbalance 01-05-2010, 10:17 AM 52.1 over 6 miles to preschool at 27 F. Then 58.0 over 51 miles (temps between 27-32 F) to work. I think the only major difference is there was no wind today, but 10 MPH winds yesterday. Still, I can deal with 58 MPG at those temps :).
JusBringIt 01-05-2010, 12:14 PM My trip gauge in my car jumped back 100 miles today.. It's the rolling odometer (not digital) and it went from 224 miles to 124 miles...Not sure WHAT is going on with that, I think my total odometer for miles on the car stays the same, not sure though.
23F, calm winds
4.3mi @ 30.8mpg work to the bank
2.7mi @ 40.6mpg bank to home for lunch
7.0mi @ 43.9mpg back to work from home.
Chalupa102 01-05-2010, 12:45 PM Much better day today for f/e. Average temp was 26F with very little wind.
45.4mpg for 22.6 miles from home to the gym.
45.9mpg for 19 miles from the gym to the store :).
39.2mpg for 8.5 miles from the store to home.
Tank average is now up to 43.1mpg.

what techniques are you using?
lxmike 01-05-2010, 02:40 PM Sean, My Freezer at work was -12 this morning. Guess the cold weather is makeing it run more efficient! :p
I finaly got asked about a few things i do. First was last night when i turned the keys in to the guardshack. The guard on duty asked if i had a car and i said yes. he said I could just drive up and he'd come out. I politly declned and said it was ok.
Second was this morning when i was fas'ing into work. speed limt in that secdtion is 30 and I was doing about 20 maybe and had a line behind me. when I got inside i saw one of the housekeeping techs and he asked " was the you going superslow" I said yep! :D
jcp123 01-05-2010, 03:02 PM Finally got cold enough to have to switch over to the wintertime metering rods in my carburetor. Between the short trips while staying at my woman's house, the low temps, and the fatter carb mixture, I can kiss FE goodbye for a while. At least the car's running better in the cold!
JusBringIt 01-05-2010, 04:59 PM 7.0mi @ 30.8mpg work to my parents to pick up my sister
4.0mi @ 16.1mpg -trying to find out where her friend lives for a birthday party and to my apt.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-05-2010, 05:13 PM Larry, how's your daughter feeling? What phone are you considering?
Ricardo, that trip readout sounds mighty strange.
Mike, sounds like you are having some fun with your skills! :D
I had a pretty decent trip home and when I got there I spent some time pulling the shift console apart so I could get at the FAS switch. As I had guessed, one of the leads worked loose. The grounding wire pulled right out from under the heat shrink tubing when I gave a small tug, and the sensing wire let loose while I was trying to free the switch itself. :p It took a while and my fingers just about fell off but I got some solid and much stronger solder connections. I also got a new piece of heat shrink snugged up much tighter than the last one -- she shouldn't fail on me again! :D (The root cause was the loose heat shrink -- the switch rotated around the shifter shaft slightly every once in a while and the solder points were pretty poor anyway so they just flexed off.)
7F, 1mph headwind from the WNW, sunny:
78.7mpg for 22.2mi (Work to home)
The tank is now up to 65.3mpg over 150.7mi with 18 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
Day Total: 73.7mpg over 45.0mi
Looks like we are in for some warmer weather over the next week! :woot:
Chalupa102 01-05-2010, 06:10 PM what techniques are you using?
Slow acceleration, driving between 55-60 on the highway, DWL and DWB, engine off at stop lights if i know when it's gonna turn green (if not then i just put it in neutral at the stops), and i just recently started NICE-on coasting. No P&G yet, mainly because i'm not sure exactly how i would do it and there's also a lot of hills. No NICE-off coasting because my car is not flat towable.
diamondlarry 01-05-2010, 06:26 PM [QUOTE=Right Lane Cruiser;248125]Larry, how's your daughter feeling? What phone are you considering?
My daughter had a bit of a flare-up with her rash yesterday but we think we may have figured out the source of the irritation so it should be over with...I hope.
Not sure on the phone but would like it to be a touch screen. I've been looking at Droid's, Blackberry's, and other Windows Mobile OS models. Unless I upgrade my plan with Verizon, I'm not eligible for a new phone until June.
Meanwhile, I forgot to get the note pad in the car for today.:o It is in there now though.:) The roads weren't much better out in the county so I was on the highway again.:( The daily average was somewhere between 50-55 mpg.
Die2self 01-05-2010, 07:03 PM well I have a few to catch up on from the record book
12/23
21.2 / 26.7 miles with the temps in the mid 50's with light rain
Trip to Alabama to see my sisters family, I did put the SG in the car but stuffed the tank (I could have gone all the way on one tank (620+ miles) but stopped at 586.7 miles and then stuff the tank again and calulate the MPG at 42.5  Nice flat roads with some P&G and Pulse and Hang thrown in but mostly 62 MPH set on the cruse control.
Well with 4 days of driving around Tuscalusa with rain and trying to keep up with my sisters driving (70MPH+) and then the trip back I filled up with 517 miles and calculated 32 MPG :( This was mainly 62 MPH cruse. However, we stopped to visit one of my wifes friend in russleville AR and apparently 13 hours in the car was to long for my wife, as she was complaining. So the last 148 miles over the boston mountains it was 70 on cruse (except for the long down hills, NICE-on coasting . She is still using the tank and I didn't want to fill up as soon as we got back (like a good Hyp'rmil'r). Disappointed that I made the effort to at least make some time and save money but met with negative remarks. I could have kept ut about 55 and made it 14 hours;).
Yesterday (burr cold)
16.0 / 13.6 miles (9F N@9) with snow covered roads until the highway
18.7 / 13.3 miles (10F NW@7)
Avg - 17.4 / 26.9 miles (tank is down to 1/2 with 219.8 miles)
today (more cold)
9.3 / 1.4 miles (8F Calm)
16.7 / 12.3 miles (I didn't stop the engine at the school as it was cold and I was just dropping him off)
18.0 / 13.3 miles (17F Calm)
Avg - 16.4 / 27.0 miles
Tank is just above 3/8 with 246.8 miles (man the cold wether is doing a number on my FE, or lack there of):eyebrow:
Ophbalance 01-05-2010, 07:11 PM Woahhh... I beat Larry today?? It's inconceivable ;) I had to meet my wife in Raleigh, 14 miles at 36 F and 57.7 MPG. The wife drove it home, 41 miles (not sure on temp) at 56.4 MPG. Huzzah for handing her a warmed up car, and an all downhill run ;). So, that puts us in the 57 MPG or so for the days total.
JusBringIt 01-05-2010, 07:32 PM Slow acceleration, driving between 55-60 on the highway, DWL and DWB, engine off at stop lights if i know when it's gonna turn green (if not then i just put it in neutral at the stops), and i just recently started NICE-on coasting. Oh ok, nice off coasting is a bit tricky at first, Pulse and glide will definitely boost up that average. Looking forward to seeing what you pull without Fas in the coming year.
Chalupa102 01-05-2010, 09:34 PM Oh ok, nice off coasting is a bit tricky at first, Pulse and glide will definitely boost up that average. Looking forward to seeing what you pull without Fas in the coming year.
I can't wait either. I want to see what kinda f/e i can get in the spring/summer, now that i'm driving better. I forgot to mention that i recently switched to a shorter serp belt that bypasses the a/c compressor. I don't believe it would make that much of a difference, but i guess i'll see with the next few tanks.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-06-2010, 06:18 AM Too many red lights to touch 80mpg this morning... :p
-5F, no wind, overcast:
75.9mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is up to 66.5mpg over 173.6mi with 17 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
It is good to have my FAS switch operational again!
JusBringIt 01-06-2010, 07:10 AM Glad you got the switch fixed Sean! My had stopped working on me for the same reason (at the most inopportune time at that) in the middle of a glide :p. Mine had to be repaired then and there though.
18F this morning Traffic was decent. Ran into this one light @ 23mph for no reason. (It's one of those weighted lights, but there was no traffic in the other direction.)
6.8mi @ 34.8mpg. :)
Ophbalance 01-06-2010, 08:36 AM * 55.4 over 6 miles at 28 F to preschool
* 70.8 over 6 miles back
I dunno... the cold (for NC) doesn't seem to change what I'm seeing much for mileage. I'm seeing the same averages, or at least reasonably close, to temps in the 50-60 F range. Wind... wind is another story. That's a heck of a mileage killer for me.
PaleMelanesian 01-06-2010, 09:00 AM 60.7 home last night at 42 degrees.
60.6 this morning at 26 degrees and a stop at the hardware store on the way.
The tank is at 64.9 / 532 miles and now below 1/2 on the gauge.
Chalupa102 01-06-2010, 03:36 PM I'm very happy with the numbers today. Average temp was at 27F with very little wind (6mph from NW).
44.5mpg for 22.6 miles from home to the gym.
44.2mpg for 22.7 miles from the gym to home.
About 30mins after i got home the doctor called and asked me if i could come in for a quick appointment.
46.1mpg for 43.9 miles from home to the hospital. Yay for a warm engine!
46.6mpg for 44.1 miles on the trip back home. Had a guy in a Chevy Blazer (must have liked my slow speed) follow me for about 10 miles till i got off the highway for my exit. I wonder if he was hypermiling too :).
As of now, the tank is way up to 44.4mpg:woot: Hopefully i can keep it like this.
JusBringIt 01-06-2010, 03:43 PM 24F,
6.8mi home @ 32.5mpg home for lunch
6.8mi @ 44.5mpg back to work from home. Traffic was a pain.
JusBringIt 01-06-2010, 04:45 PM 24F Battery ran low and I had to idle at the last two lights. Traffic was horrendous...I don't think it could've been any worse! From people deciding their turn signals are a mere addition for passing the yearly inspection, to people who think it is their constitutional right to make sure that my rear bumper is never more than an arm's length away at all times.
6.8mi @ 33.8mpg.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-06-2010, 05:28 PM I had decent trips this afternoon, though I did have the usual nutcases passing me in an unsafe manner on single lane roads when I was already traveling the speed limit. One even decided it was worth a head on collision!! That was kinda scary... but she eventually changed her mind. :p
10F part way, 1mph headwind from the NNE, overcast,
12F the rest of the way, 4mph headwind from the NNW, overcast:
78.9mpg for 20.0mi (Work to doctor's office)
68.8mpg for 3.7mi (Doctor's office to home)
The tank is now up to 67.6mpg over 197.4mi with 17 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

52.2 9.4-to wife's work

diamondlarry 01-06-2010, 08:19 PM How cold is it there Larry?
It was 12F this morning and made it to a high of 19F this afternoon. Winds were WSW@ 5-10 with gusts to 15 mph.
Ophbalance 01-06-2010, 11:23 PM Hmm... maybe it's the wind/temp combo driving your numbers that low? We hardly ever get lower than 25 F in Eastern NC ;).
* 50 ish over 6 miles to the food store at 30 F
* 66.4 over 6 miles back
I have got figure out some way to convince the missus to back my darn car in when she's done with it.... grrr.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-07-2010, 06:21 AM The roads were... interesting on the way in. Plenty of powder over quite hard and uneven ice. For those of you who don't drive on that much or at all, it is slippery and the bumps tend to break what traction you have. :p
8F (-9F windchill), 15mph cross/tailwind from the NNW, snowing:
72.3mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is up to 68.1mpg over 220.2mi with 16 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
It is nice to finally have the tank average back over the original EPA highway rating. :o
My grill block is working well enough that I saw a max air intake temp of 67F and actually got normal autostop a couple of miles from work. :D
JusBringIt 01-07-2010, 06:54 AM 26F in the Sauna that's Albany this morning.
6.9mi @ 35.6mpg into work this morning.
diamondlarry 01-07-2010, 08:35 AM Today was one of the better days in over a week. The roads are finally getting down to asphalt as long as you stay in the middle of the travel lanes. Good thing it's just in time for today's snow storm.:mad: It was 18F and winds were SW@ 5 mph. I had 64.7 for 8.8 miles to the coffee place then, 57.0 for the trip to my wife's work then back home. I'll figure up the average at the end of the driving day. Looks to be around the 60 mpg mark.
PaleMelanesian 01-07-2010, 08:43 AM 68.2 last night, 48 degrees
69.3 this morning, 34 degrees.
I'm glad the cold held off just a little more. It rained overnight, and was forecast to be completely icy this morning. Texas drivers can't handle that. Now, the rain is past and we can have dry cold - much safer.
Tank is at 64.9 / 561 miles.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-07-2010, 03:43 PM Well that was fun. You'd think we had drivers transplanted from Florida the way they're driving around here. :p
I got home without mishap and only had to play the slipping clutch game once to get going on a steep hill, but the entire route home was covered with that goopy slush that makes it hard to get anywhere efficiently. :(
9F (-9F windchill), 15-23mph head/crosswind from the NNW, partly cloudy:
68.6mpg for 22.6mi (Work to home)
The tank is steady at 68.1mpg over 242.9mi with 15 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.

Chalupa102 01-07-2010, 04:38 PM I'm currently in OH visiting family, so for the next 6 days or so my car will be sitting parked at the airport. Had to leave my house at 3:15am and there was hardly anyone on the roads. Temp was 22F with very little wind.
46.1mpg for 42.6 miles from home to the parking lot. Did A LOT of NICE-on coasting this trip :).
Unfortunately didn't get to check what the tank average was, but i'm gonna bet it is now around high 44mpg.
diamondlarry 01-07-2010, 04:54 PM Due to about 6" of snow, poor or non-existent plowing, and overly aggressive traction control on the Prius that CAN'T be turned off (don't get me started on that:mad:), I drove my wife's Saturn today. With tomorrow's forecast being similar, I'll probably be driving it again tomorrow. So I guess that puts me at 60.3 mpg for the day in the Prius.

I have heard of that procedure before somewhere. But it also seems that either Hobbit or FireEngineer said that really ugly things could happen inside the CVT if the wheels did end up spinning when stuck. I think this mode was only supposed to be some kind of a diagnostic tool. Anyone else know more about this?
The really frustrating thing is that the Prius is the only traction control system that doesn't temporarily apply the brake to the spinning wheel but instead cuts cuts the power output of the ICE. This nearly got me into an accident once when I was turning left with a semi coming that was at a safe 1/4 mile (or more) distance away. About 1/2-2/3 of the way through the turn, the left front wheel (only) passed through a very small lingering pile of slush(the rest of the road was only damp). The engine power dropped to 0 instantly and the only thing that kept me from getting creamed was I had just barely enough momentum to carry me through. What should have been a normal and non-eventful common everyday turn became a semi horn blaring near miss. Part of why I sometimes don't feel as safe in the Prius as I do in a '99 Saturn without anti-lock brakes, traction control, and stability control.

JusBringIt 01-07-2010, 08:27 PM 24f
6.7mi @ 31.7mpg.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-07-2010, 08:41 PM You got me beat alright, Jason!
Hopefully you weren't fighting the slush I had here?
Right Lane Cruiser 01-08-2010, 06:20 AM The roads were better but the traffic was worse this morning. :p
0F (-14F windchill), 8mph tailwind from the NW, clear:
72.3mpg for 22.8mi (Home to work)
The tank is up marginally to 68.3mpg over 265.7mi with 14 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
PaleMelanesian 01-08-2010, 08:27 AM 58 home last night, 31 degrees and a 20 mph headwind
57.2 this morning, 20 degrees and a light tailwind. That's the coldest commute I've recorded.
Tank is down 3/10 to 64.6 / 580 miles and just above 1/4.
I lost a couple mpg due to a stalled car with no flashers, and some stupid traffic reacting to it.
Taliesin 01-08-2010, 09:05 AM Last night was just disgusting...
0 degrees, 25 mph headwind, and my rural roads were unsafe with ice/snow.
26 mpg.
This morning was little better:
-5 degrees, 10 mph tail/crosswind, still restricted to the highway.
31 mpg.
Tank is sitting at a dismal 29 mpg. I have a lot of work ahead of me to get the tank over 30.
JusBringIt 01-08-2010, 09:08 AM 24f this morning
6.8mi @ 31.5mpg. slushy roads, snowing, and Tom (traffic of madness)
Ophbalance 01-08-2010, 11:15 AM Blah... give me cold over winds. Weather is 32 F with 12 MPH winds gusting up to 22 MPH.
* To preschool, 53.0 over 6 miles
* To the gas station, 55.5 over 10 miles
* To work, 54.3 over 41 miles

Die2self 01-08-2010, 12:37 PM TOM - Nice one Ricardo!:D
Sean, again bet you this morning with the temps -1F commute with NW@12 (WC=-18F), and no, there was no slush here as they have cleared the main roads and the side streets are just ice runs now that everyone has spun they wheels on them.
I guess I have will have to wait until next week when it is suppose to be in the 40's and maybe lower 50's :o
Right Lane Cruiser 01-08-2010, 01:15 PM 40's and 50's?? I have to wait until April to even think about temps that high!!
Lucky!!! :flag:
diamondlarry 01-08-2010, 01:21 PM 40's and 50's?? I have to wait until April to even think about temps that high!!
Lucky!!! :flag:
Ah but Sean, you are forgetting that you could see numbers that high at any given day...as negative wind chill factors.:D
I might be taking the Prius out again today. I have some errands real close to home and will see how the road conditions look. Short trips like these are going to be murder on the FE even with the temp hack.:( Just hoping I can take it grocery shopping to help average them out some.
Ophbalance 01-08-2010, 01:53 PM Ah, fun... going home. Where the van has once again gotten hit. They're going to have to now replace that just repainted bumper. Sigh. Here's to hoping that I get a tailwind at 20MPH instead of the headwind I head to fight on the way in.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-08-2010, 04:56 PM Hm... you could be right, Larry!
6F (-6F windchill), 7mph wind from the WNW, sunny:
74.7mpg for 20.1mi (Work to doctor's office)
57.8mpg for 3.7mi (Doctor's office to home)
The tank is up to 68.6mpg over 289.6mi with 14 of 20 bars remaining on the fuel gauge.
Day Total: 71.9mpg over 46.7mi
Ophbalance 01-08-2010, 05:14 PM The van is officially @#$@#$@#$ up. It's throwing several codes, the washer fluid, radiator fan, and wipers run constantly. The rear end is pushed in a bit. The car? Completely toast. Oh well.
35 F, winds at 13-23 MPH
* 60.4 over 47 miles home
* 64.0 over 6 miles to the body shop
* 55.0 over 6 miles back (forgot to put the scangauge back in. d'oh!)
Die2self 01-08-2010, 05:58 PM sounds like you have a few other things on your mind Matthew. Sorry to heard about the Van again. :(
to work
15.5 / 13.6 miles (-1F NW@12 wc=-18) (it didn't even get to 190 operating temp until 3 miles to go :( and that is with the upper and lowers blocked and a block heater.)
home
16.5 / 13.3 miles (7F W@5 wc=-2) (it was at operating temps by the time I got off the highway, 3/5 the way home)
daily avg = 16.0 / 26.9 miles
tank is just above 1/8 with 330.1 on the odo.
I will have to fil up Monday due to the weather murdering any FE I can get out of this FSP.
Right Lane Cruiser 01-08-2010, 06:15 PM Jason, I'm having the same problems with warm up in my Insight. :o
