Howdy one and all. I'm super psyched to have found this forum of like minded drivers! There is a ton of helpful (if at times overwhelming) information on this site, so hopefully in time I'll be able to benefit from and use all of the expertise and advice in the various discussions threads.

One question I do have is - how do you add the digital mpg readout display that appears as part of the signature on so many members' posts? I can't seem to find that anywhere to add. Is that part of the ScanGauge software package?

I drive a base model 09 Honda Fit with manual tranny, and my lifetime mpg is in the low 40s. Once or twice, I did hit 55 and even 60 mpg, but that was short lived...

Even before I knew what they were officially termed, I have been using RR (ridge riding), NICE-on (neutral with internal combustion engine on) coasting, DWL (driving with load), FO (face out), and max PSI in tires. I do not use FAS (forced auto stop), DWB (driving without brakes), or P&G (pulse and glide), largely because I don't feel like I am yet skilled enough for these more advanced techniques, and I can't jeopardize others' safety without first getting more proficient. I guess that's why I am here, right? So, any suggestions are welcome.

Things I believe in are Peak Oil ($10 per gallon is coming sooner than you think), small turbo charged diesel engines (wake up, America!), the power of innovation, the undeniable truth of finite natural resources combined with an overpopulation trend the world over, and the human race's opportunity to either save itself or perish ignominiously. It's just like this.

Cheers!
Jason

Hi Jason:

___Welcome to CleanMPG!

___It is great to meet another like-minded enthusiast and you will be a very welcome addition in short order for sure :)

___For your signature, Dan Bryant put up an excellent treatise as linked: Signature How To (http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5095).

___Regarding techniques, use what you feel is both safe and comfortable to you. I would recommend FAS'ing at long lights and impediments but do make sure you reduce electrical load if you are not ScanGauge-II equipped just yet.

___Other than that, I cannot wait to hear of your Fit experiences in and around Oregon proper. That is a beautiful locale you live in and I am sure you have some spectacular pics of your Fit in places most of us could only dream about visiting someday.

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Thanks Wayne! I've heard & read your name many times & in many places, all with respect to increasing MPG and fuel efficiency overall. An impressive forum!

Welcome from down south, Jason. You've got a good car that's capable of 55 mpg results consistently. Larry McMahon has averaged that for >32,000 miles in his Fit.

Hello Jason and welcome to cleanmpg. You have a great car for starters especially for backroads. Keep the speed down and you can definitely keep it consistently above 50mpg. Do keep us informed on your progress and get that mileage log up to keep track.

Welcome!

It sounds like you might have a scangauge. If you dont, I would highly recommend buying one. That will give you a huge advantage. Sounds like you are already on your way!
