View Full Version : Fire Him!!! Chuck 12-27-2009, 06:48 PM Jim Caldwell lost a game - the Colts are losing momentium. Failure is not an option - fire him. :D diamondlarry 12-28-2009, 08:46 AM Jim Caldwell lost a game - the Colts are losing momentium. Failure is not an option - fire him. :D As an Indiana resident, I agree! What's so wrong about the loss is that it was TOTALLY avoidable! And this from someone who is really not a sports fan. Chuck 12-28-2009, 08:50 AM If the Colts win the Super Bowl, resting Manning will be questioned for years. diamondlarry 12-28-2009, 09:03 AM If the Colts win the Super Bowl, resting Manning will be questioned for years. As someone who isn't that big of a sports fan, what little respect I had for them was greatly diminished. Even if they go on to win Super Bowl 44, I will have less respect for them than if they had given their best the whole season and lost the Super Bowl. I understand that it was purely a business decision in that a Super Bowl win is more profitable than a perfect season but, what is it going to do to that business if fans/customers don't want to go see the games? Think about it, how would you feel as a fan if you spent ~$90/ticket+concessions+accommodations (if out of town)+ travel expenses (parking, gas, tolls, etc.), only to see them put the third string in and throw the game away...on purpose?!! #Businessfail I guess I'm too simpleminded in that I think you should always give the best you have to offer all the time. GRR! Chuck 12-28-2009, 09:14 AM If the Colt's quarterback was Bret Farve, this would be a lot bigger, but Manning is going to be quiet about it so it does not hurt the Colt's Super Bowl chances. Heard talk that the owner might have been involved with this. rdprice64 12-28-2009, 10:29 AM Every time they have done this in the past, they have lost early in the playoffs. If they somehow win the Superbowl, then no one will question this, but if they fail again, then how can you call it anything except "not learning from the past"? The Superbowl that they won happened because they built momentum going into the playoffs, not by stalling and staggering into it. Their prospects look dim at this point. If I were Peyton, I would ask for a trade! Or retire and come back to another team, ala Brett Favre. Chuck 12-28-2009, 10:42 AM ...If I were Peyton, I would ask for a trade! Or retire and come back to another team, ala Brett Favre.Peyton Manning has too much class, although he has every right to question this move....part of his greatness is he is low maintainence - not a Favre. In passing, execution, pre-game prepration, leadership, respect of the team, PR, he gets the highest marks. Some may prefer Tom Brady, but do you think the Patriots would be worse if they had Manning? "If they lose, no one will question this...." It's like Tony Romo going to Cancun or Vegas during bye week - when the Cowboys lose big games, they point to the trips. Chuck 12-28-2009, 11:02 AM While the Jets' win today ended Indianapolis' streak and showed once again how difficult it is to go undefeated, I want to congratulate the Colts on a great run Hangs up the phone and breaks out the champaign (like the 72' 17-0 Dolphins do when the last undefeated team loses.) :Banane25::Banane04::Banane03::banane58::Banane25: i.e. Shula hopes nobody ever wins another Super Bowl undefeated. Chuck 12-28-2009, 11:47 AM http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/28/week-16-morning-aftermath/ Damionk 12-28-2009, 12:00 PM You can bet that I will be listening that much more closely to the weekly radio show Bill Polian does tonight. Chuck- In regards to that article, I saw that the players were mad, but I don't think that they would turn their back on Coach Caldwell like it says. It is just not how the Colts are. Once they get a day or two of practice down it will be back to business as usual. Although this loss does make me wonder how we will approach next weeks game against the Bills. Chuck 12-28-2009, 12:52 PM I was thinking about this kind of history: Jim Caldwell - the only NFL coach to never lose a game, win a Super Bowl. We may never see any rookie coach come this close again. phoebeisis 12-28-2009, 02:23 PM Yes, fire him,and the Viking's coach, and the Eagle's coach, and New England's coach. Keep Wade Phillips but get Tony R back together with Jessica. We-Saints- need all the help we can get! Charlie Chuck 12-28-2009, 02:28 PM Charlie, You would be better served if Coach Farve stays. Tony Romo is engaged but you can always send him golf clubs for a weding present for his wife-to-be. :p (yes he golfs a lot) Chuck 12-28-2009, 10:27 PM ...We-Saints- need all the help we can get! CharlieLooks like the Vikings are going to give you home field advantage... Bears 30 - Vikings 23 with 5 minutes left. phoebeisis 12-29-2009, 07:24 AM Well, it won't matter unless the Saints get well, and maybe not even then.EVERYONE expects us to stink it up against Carolina, so we'll know soon enough. Charlie ATaylorRacing 12-30-2009, 06:30 AM Even before the game they let everyone know this would happen. I know why it was done, but don't agree with iy....think of Caldwells' chance to be undefeated as a rookie coaxh...he threw away a once in a lifetime chance...but if Manning WAS injured there would be calls for him to be fired for not pulling him for sure. Poor painter was thrown to the lions since a lot of the other regulars were pulled also. I don't think Manning would have won that game if he had the same players as Painter did. Seriously, we need a private dick following Caldwell to see how many free steak dinners he racks up at Schulas resturant in Indy!!!! phoebeisis 12-30-2009, 06:54 AM Thanks to the Vikings/Bears the Saints are going to rest the starters also. Heck with the bye the starters will be off for 3 weeks. Charlie vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
