View Full Version : Finally Got to Join

Xcel sent me an email about two weeks ago about this site and I've tried to join a number of times. The passwords (around 25) I tried would not be accepted. Finally I dropped Wayne Gerdes from the "recommeded this site" space, and it worked this time.

The three sites I've posted on are Hybridcars.com (15 mo.), GH (11 mo.) and the Yahoo FEH site (7 mo ). Looks like I'll be posting and reading with some of the Internets finest here if you don't mind.

Its been a little over a year (Feb. '05) since I found the benifits of FE with my new FEH. That's about when gas prices jumped from $1.69 a gallon, so it was just in time for me. In my earlier days, I use to build big block Fords and race a bit, but I'm a new man now. Thanks to people like xcel and others here, I'm still improving my FE with any of the cars I drive. Just the other day, I broke 22mpg in my '02 V8 Explorer. Before I bought the FEH, I was lucky to get 15mpg in the Explorer.

The tools and gauges I have are the Nav Sys. and scangauge since December. Also have a full set of Helms repair manuals and bookmarked a lot of Ford Hybrid patents where there is great information for this group.

Hi Gary:

___I was wondering if you would ever get around to visiting ;)

___I hope you find time to discuss scan gauge use in your hybrid and non-hybrid as well as the Escape HEV’s capabilities with the LGA, FAS in D after the tach bounce, Glide to an EV mode target, and your own darn near patented Fake Shift for FEH SoC management on the way back up.

___Might I ask you to review the following thread for my own personal take on the FEH in particular?

If you had to choose ONE type of vehicle (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=4828&page=2&pp=15&highlight=Escape+Hybrid)

___For everyone else, Gary has pushed his FWD Escape HEV beyond where anyone on the planet has pushed it to date. Given the FEH’s aFCD does not exceed 60.0 mpg’s, let us just say that Gary sees 60.0 much of the time while driving around his locale. All he has to do is keep his wife out of the driver’s seat and all is good :D

___Gary, Good Luck and welcome.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Looks like xcel and Billy are coming down for the 12hr Sebring race. Finally, I get to meet xcel and he will get a chance behind my windscreen to show me how to drive the thing. Stay tuned for the report on the FWD FEH. This could be interesting!

Hi Gary:

___I think the only learning to occur will be from you to me ;)

___I look forward to meeting up with you, your wife, Billy, and his GF tomorrow evening. I think its going to be fun to get together and finally meet you as well as to drive one of the premier Escape HEV’s in the country!

___Leaving within an hour or two …

___Good Luck

Hi Gary; Very much looking forward to seeing you Tomorrow at 8pm @ Cracker Barrel. I am flying tonight From Seattle to Miami. Most of Friday we will be at the Beach in Key Biscayne, then drive north on I-95. We are staying in Ft Pierce.

The Sebring race is awesome, I attend every year. Check it out on www.americanlemans.com The new Audi R-10's are amazing, with the V-12 diesel and 1160 ft lbs of torque. Then can do 220 mph on the straights. I wish I could drive my '05 Insight all the way there, but not enough time. Just a 3 day weekend is all I have. See ya soon, Bill....

Hi Terry

Your right! Wayne is a live wire. You missed a great time we had together at dinner and the races. Very good people to be around and Billy and Cindy were also great guides at Sebring. A great time, a great race, and Cindy taught us all how to drive the FEH for great FE. Our smiles are still hard to get rid of, that's how good a time we had. Wish you had come, as I have always enjoyed your post.

Gary;

Yeah, I really should have just taken that few days vacation and rode down with Wayne and his wife Marian. They are the {Best}, I like them both and it was my Pleasure to get to meet both of them. Sad but it's called job security these days. Meaning don't just take off in the middle of the night and leave a voice mail to your Manager. Not a real good idea these days. If it was a little earlier in the evening I would have called and rode down with them. I missed out on a Great time and Great Friends. :D

I'm glad everything went smooth at the races and everyone had a Gret Time at the Sebring Races and with each other. I personally like the People I'm with now more than the Event. When I was younger I think I did not have the Sense to realize just how important "Good-Friends" are and can be.

Terry

And I too finally joined. Since I've had the FEH for only a month, I have nothing useful to say, but the day will come.

Welcome to CleanMPG!

If your experience is like mine, there is a big learning curve the first few weeks or months to learn most of the techniques to get higher fuel economy.

The learning never stops. Even some of the most knowledgable people here are still fine tuning and learning new techniques.

Hal, thank you for honoring us with your membership. You are truly a joy to have at CleanMPG and top off the great bunch that post here. This seems to be the cream of good people and you are at the top of my list of smart and great poster’s. Wayne and I joke how you make us feel like students in a hard to pass class.

Please, hit me with your questions and answers! We here love the answers and will not come back at you with disrespect. There is no gang here, I’m sure you can read between the lines. With Wayne , Tom, Terry and Delta’s support and others, please give us your opinion on matters of concern.

You are a smart SOB, so please share!
