Exactly one year ago today the first official email went out regarding Hybridfest. So I guess you could say that this is the official day that Hybridfest was "born". Of course it wasn't called Hybridfest that at the time. Then, it was just a crazy idea.

Others of you received an email shortly after that, on the 20th asking you your opinions regarding a summertime weekend-long hybrid car event.

Thank you to those who believed in the event and shared your ideas. We never could have had such a great event without the incredible enthusiasm that each of you brought to Hybridfest. (http://www.hybridfest.com)
Congratulations everyone. Thank you for making Hybridfest an amazing gathering of hybrid owners and Happy Birthday, Hybridfest!

p.s. Extra points if you know who received the first Hybridfest email. Hint: It was someone who is active on this site!

Actually, Eric, this would be the anniversary of the day that Hybridfest was conceived. I'm not sure I want to conjure up the mental picture of that.

I've got to agree, it's like celebrating the conception rather than the birth.

Yesterday I met with a Prius driver (Windstrings off of PriusChat) and mentioned HybridFest and a few things like the plugin Prius, running EV1....

Maybe Dallas and other areas will have a hybrid presence at car shows.

It would be big news if there was a big hybrid presence at the Texas State Fair (http://www.bigtex.com/autoshow/information/aboutshow/) in October.

Imagine the parking lot area during Hybridfest as two long indoor buildings - that's the car exhibit at the Texas State Fair. Twice as many trucks (one in four) run around in Texas. Any new trucks WILL be in the Texas State Fair. Suffice to say, if hybirds had a major presence at the Texas State Fair, they could get a following anywhere.
