All--
While awaiting delivery of the HCH I ordered a few weeks ago, my dealer rep told me that they put splash guards on the new Civics (and perhaps other vehicles) they sell at no cost (and he was truthful in that, there's yet to be an added price). Now, I nodded and smiled when he told me that, but now I've been thinking more. Is the addition of splash guards a bad idea for the hybrid? Would the benefit of cleaner paint at the fenders outweigh the added drag (if there is any added drag)? Finally, does anyone have the splash guards, and if so, do you like them?

Are these splash guards differrent than the lower wheel well aero fairings (if that is what you call them) that already come with the stock vehicle?

rhwinger--
I believe those are different. I assume that what my dealer is talking about is the dealer-installed accessory, for which details are provided on Honda's website.
tiger--
Thanks for the photo, and I agree that the paint is worth protecting, and I suspect I'll let the dealer install them -- especially since the Honda website says it's no-drill installation, I can remove them if I want. I still wonder, though, if there's any penalty to the car's drag coefficient with the addition of the splash guards...

I wouldn' be particularly worried about the CD as long as they don't stick way out beyond the profile of the tire itself. The airflow is pretty well stirred up at that point so I'd be pretty shocked if the difference is measureable, much less noticeable.
