Oil and gas prices may ease … (http://money.cnn.com/popups/2006/news/election_democrats/index.html)

As a result of major investment in ethanol the last two years, supported by both parties, more of the corn-based fuel will be coming online next summer, according to Tom Kloza, an analyst at Oil Price Information Service. And the increase in supply should help ease prices.

Kloza also said Democrats will tend to focus more on conservation measures, which could bring down demand and further reduce prices.

Another difference with the Republicans: Democrats may be less tolerant of big investment money bidding up oil prices. "If you continue to see inventory increases accompanied by rising prices, the Democrats are going to say 'Hey, what’s going on'," said Kloza.

In addition, the appointment of Robert Gates to succeed Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld could alleviate some geopolitical concerns for now, meaning less upward pressure on crude prices, according to a research note by Adam Sieminski, chief energy economist for Deutsche Bank.

I don't buy it.

Point 1)
Democrats don't have the monopoly on environmental concerns and conservation. Humm conservation... conservative... kind of a stretch I know.

Point 2)
It is bad to think that by conserving here in the US that we will lower gas prices. We aren't the only ones using oil in the world, and companies will sell it to who ever wants it. By not using it here they won't be selling it here they will sell it to countries like china or wherever. This will in fact cause a shortage in the US driving UP prices.

Point 3)
"Another difference with the Republicans: Democrats may be less tolerant of big investment money bidding up oil prices. "If you continue to see inventory increases accompanied by rising prices, the Democrats are going to say 'Hey, what’s going on'," said Kloza."
And they will do more investigations as in the past which showed nothing. Even if there is wrong doing chances are it will just send a few executives to jail and the others will continue doing what they were doing.

Point 4)
In addition, the appointment of Robert Gates to succeed Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld could alleviate some geopolitical concerns for now...
I don't think they know who Robert Gates is. He is worse than Rumsfeld. He actually wants to expand the war.

That's the world as I see it, but I'm sure I make a lot less money than Adam Sieminski, chief energy economist for Deutsche Bank so what do I know.
