Think it was back in the 1980's or even 1970's, but someone made a mod to pump a little bit of oil from the pan into the cylinder head to protect the cylinders better duing the crankup.

There are after market kits available that will get the oil pressure up before you crank the ICE. Also used for pumping out the oil on oil changes.

___I don’t really think this is needed today given the number of hybrids w/out electric hydraulic pumps on the road performing this same scenario multiple times per hour. Think Prius I’s w/ over 200,000 miles on them. The Prius I’s ICE is starting up more the any other I can think of given the age with no problems in terms of wear that I have ever heard if?

Even in a P&G cycle, I don't think the engine is at risk. After the first 5 or 10 seconds the engine should be about as well oiled as ever. A warmup P&G might increase wear since the oil will be cold but even that shouldn't be all that bad.

I think a more worthwhile mod, that I may or may not have mentioned, would be an electric vacuum pump (with a check valve) to keep the brakes working at 100% during a FAS. It isn't necessary, either, but might add some safety margin. Should be pretty straight-forward for someone who understands the wiring aspect.
