I bought a new Wrangler in January. It was a leftover 2008 i got from the dealer my brother works at. I got a great deal on it. I bought it mostly for my wife to use in the winter, having sold the Subaru she previously used. My wife does not like anything large(she drives the smart). She drove the Wrangler during the worst parts of winter, and it pretty much sat the rest of the time.
We usually have a date night every saturday when we go out to dinner or whatever. It's a nice way to unwind, have a few glasses of wine and talk. last week we were talking and she said to me"I really am not comfortable driving the wrangler, especially at night".(her vision is not the best, and her night vision, to be charitable, sucks). The plastic windows in the soft top are hard to see through at night, and she said the Jeep ios just too damn big. So we talked a bit more and decided to look at some AWD alternatives.
Well, we found what she liked(and i like it too). 2009 Suzuki SX4 AWD. Loaded to the max. 2.0 and of course we got the 5 speed. EPA is 21/28, so it will be interesting to see what i can squeeze out of her. I got a great deal, the sticker was $20K. I got the car, a 7/100K extended warranty to cover what the 7/100 powertrain doesnt, plus they gave me a check for $2400!!! They gave me $19600 on trade for my Jeep. I paid $19400 for it when i bought it! :woot:

Thanks.
Laurie, we just celebrated our 31st anniversary in Sept. We hardly ever got the chance to go anywhere when our boys were growing up, so our date nights are pretty special to both of us. Some times it's just going to a local bar for a burger and a beer, sometimes a nice restaurant, sometimes it's a night of riding go-karts or going to a movie, or a local art show. But we always try to do something.

She has always pointed out the SX4's and said she liked them. I think they resemble the previous generation Subaru Impreza, which she always liked.

Great trade!!

I can't believe they paid that much for the Jeep, who do they think they are going to sell that thing to?

Where i live. 4X4's are REALLY popular, and a Jeep Wranglers are revered. PLUS, it is painted in steelers colors, so that makes it even more desirable.
I was surprised that i got that much for it also, but they have gone up in price a lot, plus with the Chrysler plant shutdown, there are NO 2009's available, and the 2010's have almost no incentives on them. Kind of like a "perfect storm" for me to get max trade in. It also helped that the SX4 had a healthy rebate on it.
kind of interesting, the SX4 woth the automatic has a $1750 rebate, while the Manual has a $3000 rebate. That difference, along with the difference in price between the 2($1000), meant that the manual was $2250 cheaper than the automatic. Not a hard decision to make..LOL. Especially since we both prefer a stick.
