2009 Honda CRF230M - $5,399 to start and worth at least 120 mpgUS :D
After the fantastic ride we had with the 128 mpgUS capable 2008 CRF230L (cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=178437) last fall, it seems fitting to discuss its sibling in the form of a Supermoto, that being the 2009 CRF 230M.
Described as stylish, fun and affordable, the Honda CRF230M is an eager companion appealing to a broad range of riders. The CRF230M’s 276 pounds full soaking wet will be one of the first items you will notice. Additionally, shorter males and female riders will find it 31.7” seat height especially attractive for years to come.
Its light weight, slender lines and Supermoto design will inspire rider confidence for the new rider as well as the seasoned curmudgeon ;)
Just like the CRF230L, pushbutton electric starting spins up the ultra reliable air-cooled single-cylinder four stroke engine to life. Riders of any experience level will also appreciate the easy clutch pull, broad torque range and smooth power delivery.
At home around town or touring your favorite back-road haunts, the CRF230M’s light steering will be a joy for years to come. Augmented by its lightweight 17-inch front and rear wheels and street-purposed Dunlop Arrowmax tires, handling will never be a surprise either.
