2011 Ford Fiesta just a few months away from US availability.

Ford car sales increased by 10 percent in October, compared with the same month in 2008. The award-winning Ford Fiesta once again led every other automobile sold the UK market, passing 100,000 sales for the year.

Market leader Ford continues to make progress, raising its share of the car market to 16.2 per cent year to date, a 1.3 percentage point increase from the same period in 2008. Ford's share of the total vehicle market, including commercial vehicles, rose to 17 percent – meaning that over one in six new vehicles on UK roads is a Ford.

Ford Fiesta, What Car? magazine's reigning Car of the Year, was the UK's top seller in October – the eighth time the model has topped the monthly sales charts in 2009. Ford Focus is second to Fiesta for the year and, like Fiesta, increased sales in October 2009 compared with the same month in 2008.

Since its launch in May, the government's scrappage scheme has lifted the market significantly and Ford boasts a total of 26,214 scrappage registrations.

Nigel Sharp, Ford Britain managing director, said: "Notching up over 100,000 sales this year is a significant milestone for the Fiesta, and we're delighted. Fiesta exemplifies our fresh and exciting product line-up which, together with an outstanding dealer network, has helped to increase our UK market share."

How does the fiesta sedan differ from the Focus Sedan? I'm sure it's a different platform, but is it really that different in size? I just don't see many Americans going for something smaller than a Focus.

Of course in the 5-door model, I could understand it. The Honda Fit is popping up all over the place. People (Americans) seem plenty happy to get on-board the Fit wagon, so I could see the allure of a Fiesta 5-door.

Hi Justin:

___The Fit, Yaris and Fiesta are slightly smaller than the Civic, Corolla and Focus. The Fit and Fiesta are very comparable other than the Fit has a more squared off rear end for better rear leg and head room and it includes a flat fold rear seat which bests the Fiesta's semi-flat fold seats.

___Good Luck
