White Rock Lake in northeast Dallas was the supply of drinking water until the Great Depression - then it was replaced by Lake Lewisville in my neighborhood. White Rock became an urban park and in later decades one of the best neighborhoods with tons of runners.

Losing form and gained ten pounds since this summer, I did The Half (http://thehalf.org), a scenic half-marathon five weeks before one of the nation's biggest winter marathons - White Rock (http://www.runtherock.com/).

Getting 65mpg getting there reflect starting late. Did a harmless 1mph tap in queue with a Nissan. :o :o :o . Also missed some super bargains on great coolmax running shirts. Got 80mpg on the way back home. :)

Last part of this 13.1-mile run - an Operating Room technical assistant to a heart surgeon highly motivated me to get out of my running slump. She has seen many people die, and when I told her my condition two years ago, she told me I was closer to a heart attack than I realized. Basically lucky to have responded so well at the eleventh hour, she said but said "you are not quite out of the woods" - lose more weight to get the blood pressure down to 110/70. We finished about ten minutes after Lance Armstrong completed his first marathon going twice as fast, twice as far.

Took a nap that afternoon to get over the post-running pain - and to avoid watching the Cowboys get beat by the Redskins. :D
