Week 2 with the car managed to acheive 46.6 mpg for 310 miles. I'm happy with this considering the amount of rain and heavy winds that occured. Overall, continue to be impressed w/the car.

Mastering the HSD is still definitely a work in process. It IS different then the IMA system my HCH2 had. Same concepts apply ... the the application of them is different.

I've been trying to figure out the highway sweetspot mph for mileage vs my sanity dealing w/the rush hour drivers. So far I've noticed that 55-57 yeilds better results then 60 did. I'm kind of settling on 57 in the morning (10 mile decrease in elevation) and 55 in the evenings (reverse w/increase in elevation).

30 mph seems to be a bit of a sticking point in getting to "glide" mode ... also seems to fake the hsd into keeping the engine on ... even at a stop. What's puzzling is that this is about 20-25 minutes into the commute and my perception is that the engine is "warm".

Hope the information is at least a little bit interesting and useful.

Have a great week!

I've been lurking here and at other HS 250h discussion forums as I contemplate getting one. The fact that I'm very promiscuous when it comes to cars (always looking for my next one) combined with an insatiable love of gadgets, has me very interested in the HS. I'm also increasingly obsessed (okay, that's too strong of a word...) with getting decent gas mileage. The HS seems a perfect combo of luxury, gadgets, and fuel economy. (I just wish it didn't look so much like a Corolla with a Ford Fusion grill....)

Did you get the "premium" model with all the safety gizmos? If so, I'm curious what your impressions of those are. Also, how's the iPod integration? From what I've gathered, it's rather disappointing, especially if you attempt to scroll through any lists.

I do have a premium model with navigation. I initially wanted the technology package ... but after considering it ... I chose not to get it. I do have the backup camera and parking assist and they are helpful.

Unless I'm on a long road trip ... I don't use the iPod in the car. I listen to XM radio ... classic rock in the morning ... contemporary jazz in the evening. When I do use the iPod ... it's basically in suffle mode and works fine for that.

Keep the info coming! I'm feeding your info to my mom. She is moving to Florida next week and will no longer need the all wheel assist of the RX330. I would like to see her in the new 250H.

I realized after my last post that my HS250h has another very useful safety feature ... the forward wide-angle camera. I find this very useful. Use it every day when I park at work ... it allows me to guage much easier "where's the curb" ... so I don't hit it. I've also used it to see how far I actually am from a vehicle in front of me. The fish-eye view also allows you a wide angle view coming out of an alley. I do give this feature 2 thumbs up!

I remain so tempted....
Just wish Lexus would have upgraded their Nav system with some better graphics, birds-eye veiws, etc. Their Nav system is virtually unchanged from a lexus I had over 6 years ago. I know it's functional and everything, but it's looking a bit antiquated....
