Happy Dance time
:Banane44:
I made a decision to finish off the week with a bang. This morning's running around town was rough (but at least the trips were strung together!) But this afternoon's trip to visit my parents was great. I decided on a conservative HS P&G cycle while DWL and DWB around the 60MPH mark, which worked out really well travelling through eastern Connecticut and central MA. The hills on I-84 and I-90 are a real PITA to climb but it's nice to glide on down the back side in FAS. Part of the challenge was estimating glide capability in the cold weather, so if in doubt I just took a NICE-on and watched the speedo. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. All told I probably managed to glide sans engine fo 3 or 4 miles out of the 90, which helped to bring the final average up to 40.1mpg. I can't remember the last time I saw a number over 40! Conditions were acceptable and temps were around 45F. I also had the pleasure of watching the fuel gauge cross the half way mark with about 290 miles on the clock, which puts this tank in roughly the 37-38mpg range so far.
After a streak of mediocrity, I'm back in the game.
