Someone left me with a small dent and a scratch along my front and rear passenger side doors and fenders in a parking lot. Took it to the shop for an estimate and it turns out body work is very expensive. So I filed a claim for $1600 for the repair and got a Ford Taurus for a rental.
Took the FEH in the Monday before last (10 days to repair) and I had a tank average of 47+ at that time with only ~50 mile on the tank. When I picked it up yesterday, my tank average was below 23mpg. The repair shop had burned over a half gallon of gas without putting a mile on the FEH. To top it off, the HV battery had no green SoC when I started it up and the A/C was on max.
Any guesses to what my tank mileage will be at 500 miles on this tank? I'm going to have to really work on this challenge. The FEH looks great now though.

On the back of the envelope you are looking at 2.1 gallons burned for the first 50 miles, and if you manage 47mpg for the remaining 450 miles that's 9.5 more gallons. So it's 500mi divided by 11.6 gallons for an average of 43.1mpg...if you work your butt off.
Don't worry, we've all been there. Just this morning I went for an emissions inspection with 35.4mpg showing on the ScanGauge. It didn't even log all of the idling time over the next ten minutes and it came back 1mpg less. I didn't even realize that was possible considering that I have already gone 200mi.
Hi Gary:
___What Tim said!
___There were some photographers at my home over last week and the week before that. After 2.0 miles of the second set, I was sitting at just 8 mpg’s! I brought her back to almost 42 after the next 18. Not my best outing of course but you will be surprised what you and your FEH are capable of when you have to pull her out of her slump by the boot straps.
___Good Luck on bringing her back and let us know where she ends up!

I'd guess 40 MPG.
Of course, that's assuming you stay in Florida. It's unlikely you'd be getting anywhere near that much here in Michigan; it's around 16 degrees outside right now.

Hi All
Had some good days and bad days, but here is where I'm at so far on this tank. The Navi is reading 45.5mpg average (but data was dropped) and the dash reads 276 Mile to Empty and the Trip OD is at 286.9.
Here is the Tank data from the SG:
Tank average - 41.6 and climbing
19mph average
17.9 hours left
15.1 hours running
341 Tank to Empty
283 miles Trip OD (3.9 miles off from the dash)
8.2 gallons Tank to empty
6.8 gallons used
The SG is set for 15 gallons which starts at the reset of the tank. We know that the dash MTE reads 0 with 1.3 gallons left in the tank. My gas gauge is reading below half right now.
Anyone care to adjust their prediction. Pravus, I'm already above you by 1.6mpg. It's much harder to change that average now though. For sake of where I'll end the SG reading, it will be at the dash 0 MTE with 1.3 gallons left in the tank. The SG should read around 13.7 gallons used at that point.

Here is the results of this tank TODAY.
Navi read 47.2mpg for the final average before reset. Total miles on the dash trip OD was 574.2, but 0 miles to empty (bell went off) was at 568.2 miles. This means I went 6 miles over 0 MTE. I have estimated 1.3 gallon left in the tank at 0 MTE for a long time now. After the reset (filling the tank) the new miles to empty read 674 miles to empty.
The Scangauge readings were as follows:
Tank - 43.9mpg average.
20mph average.
4.6 hours tank to empty.
27.7 hours on the tank
92.1 miles tank to empty
567 miles on SG trip (7.2 less than dash trip OD)
2.1 gallons tank to empty ( this means I started with less than 15 gallons by .8 gallons).
12.9 gallons burned on this tank.
Not making any adjustments with the SG trip mileage and my dash trip OD, my last tank was 44.6mpg average. My SG has consistantly fell short of the dash trip OD about the same as this tank.
I feel that I did an OK job of the challenge considering I lost my mother last week. I admit, the temp is getting cooler here, and I should have done better.
