Dear Friends,
My HCH 2006 has a little light blinking on the dashboard and it says that the passenger airbag has been disable, could you please let me know how I can enable again the passenger airbag.
Thank you so much for your help.
With kind regards,
Pawkar

If there's nobody in the seat, that's how it's supposed to work. Sensors detect if the seat is empty, or if a child or cargo is in the seat instead. Turning the airbag off in that case will help prevent injuries.

If there is nobody sitting there you should see the light when the car starts and then it should go off. If you have anything in the passenger seat, even just a book, the system thinks it should tell you the airbag has been disabled. If there is nothing in the seat, and it still gives the light, there is most likely a loose connection or short in the passenger seat wiring. If there is somebody sitting there, but they lean towards the door too much, that can also temporarily disable the passenger side airbag. (It shouldn't go off when somebody is leaning on it.)
As far as I know the driver side airbag is never disabled, except possibly if the driver is leaning towards the door.

Mine has been related to a loose seatbelt problem.

Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for the information refering to this passenger airbag issue. Well the light is blinking all the time. I do not have the manual of the car and I would like to ask you if there is any electric circuit or pictures of the electric connections of the passanger seat, if I will have some information I think would be able to check under the seat.
Thank you Pale, Pasadena and Chuck for your responses.
Warm regards,
Pawkar

Hi pawkar;
I'll publish the relevant page/diagram later showing the connectors and harness information (sorry no time as I type this), but I would you check the passenger seat and remove any loads off it. Placing a heavy book on the seat or even hitting it with a heavy object can cause the blinking light to appear.
Try powering the car on, then have someone sit on the seat momentarily then have them get up. The light should not blink unless they're a small child and while they're sitting.
Also, has the car been involved in an accident?
Cheers;
MSantos

Dear Santos,
Yes the car had an accident was hit on the front passenger side. It could be this is the cause of the passenger air bag being desable.
Warm regards,

Hi pawkar;
You would be surprised to learn how many times this happens. :(
I've kept this picture around for a couple of years precisely because others had the same problem you have... all on the account of incomplete safety work on the part of the shop that did the repair. :(

I suggest you check the connectors (under the seat) and if that does not do it for you then it is possible that the harness or the weight sensors developed a fault and need to be replaced (as they probably should have in the first place).
Cheers;
